Review: Night Moves – Tara Rose

Nita Trudeaux had her heart broken by Keith Durante and Billy Raleigh years ago, and since then, she’d written off the self-proclaimed princes of Sybaris Cove. This is great!  We’re one step closer to figuring out the mystery of the Sybaris Cove curse!  “Night Moves” by Tara Rose was instrumental in this, and I am so thrilled with it.  I am really enjoying this series.  It’s unique, clever, and very interesting.  Certainly, it’s a hot, sexy romance, but it’s also got a bit of paranormal thrown in as well, and it’s a perfect combination.

In the sixth installment of “The Doms of Sybaris Cove” series, Nita, the granddaughter of the local, and much respected, voodoo priestess, is still trying to get over a traumatic high school relationship with Keith Durante.  He and his cousin, Billy Raleigh, spread some terrible rumors about her, and she’s felt like an outcast ever since.  Now, the only reason I even mention Keith and Billy is the fact that, years later, another Raleigh and Durante come into her life, and she’s hesitant to get involved with them.  Slowly, they convince her that they’re nothing like their mean cousins, and they really care for her and would never hurt her.  She finally believes them, and they tentatively begin a menage relationship.  Nita, Brett, and Mark have some really heated chemistry going on.  The fire they radiate could be felt through my Kindle.  The sex is nuclear!  Of course, like all of Tara Rose’s novels, “Night Moves” is a BDSM story.  Be aware that there are spankings, paddles, and all sorts of other delightful toys.  Oh! There is also a VERY INTENSE role play scene (Think Pirates!  Nice!).  It contains what I would call either consensual non consent, or maybe even dubious consent, but it’s not something that upset me or made me angry.  It was fantastic, and Tara makes sure that, all through the scene, Nita in enjoying herself.

In the midst of the romance, Nita and Phyllis, her grandmother, are helping to search for the demons who put a curse on the Raleighs and the Durantes. None of their men can ever leave the island without dying.  This mystery has been ongoing from the beginning, and it’s great.  It’s kept my attention, and I’m still trying to guess how it’s all going to end.  There are all sorts of nifty clues in the possession of several of the men in all the stories.  It’s all fascinating.  I feel like I have a real stake in this, now.  It’s very easy to become immersed in the plot.  I was grabbed and sucked in right away.  Really, I can’t say enough good things about “Night Moves” or the entire “Doms of Sybaris Cove” series.  It’s difficult for me to not just break down and give away every spoiler from every book.  I think that they should be enjoyed without knowing very much about them.

Now, I’ve mentioned that this is book six.  You don’t necessarily have to read the previous books in the series.  There is plenty of exposition to catch you you up.  I just really, really think you should read them all from the beginning to get the full effect of the characters, and the plot.  If hot menage romance, gothic mystery, and interesting historical artifacts, this one’s for you.
