When college freshman Rowan Michaels meets gorgeous, up-and-coming rock star Adam Everest, she knows a player like him is the last thing she needs after her ex-boyfriend shattered her heart. But she can’t stop thinking about the kiss they shared on his tour bus.
On the first day of school, Rowan is stunned when Adam saunters into her French class. He’s soon failing miserably, and, on a whim, she offers to tutor him. But Adam doesn’t recognize her as a makeup-free, glasses-clad college studentβa far cry from the beautiful, mysterious “Peach” he met at his concert.
During a wild weekend on tour with the band, Rowan can’t help falling for the sweet guy buried beneath Adam’s rocker persona. Yet she knows she could never compete with the girls constantly throwing themselves at his feet. She’d just end up hurt β¦ again.
Peach is all Adam thinks about, though, and when Rowan realizes this, she has a decision to make: stay just friends to protect her fragile heart β¦ or reveal the truth about the night they met and admit she’s fallen completely, hopelessly in love with him.
Praise for Mayhem:
βThis book is exactly why every girl has a rock star fantasy. Love, lust and good times on the road make for a fun and sexy romance that will make you want to drop everything and run away on tour with the band.β

Tell us about yourself.
Iβm an author who loves reading New Adult as much as I love writing it. Iβm a total fangirl, an incurable night owl, and a sucker for fictional heroes. Mayhem is my debut novel, and I canβt even tell you how excited I am to have readers read it!
What three things about you might surprise your readers?
I love going to concerts, but Iβve never gotten to watch from backstage like my heroine, Rowan, does in the book. The last one I went to was Taking Back Sunday a few months ago, and I was right up front, second row, braving the craziness of the pit. And I have NO MERCY when someone tries to muscle me out of my spot. Haha! MOSH PIT JUSTICE!
When I say Iβm a night owl, Iβm really not kidding. Iβm talking crawling in bed at 5am and waking up after noon. The rocker life would suit me well.
I have a Masterβs degree in Professional Writing, but my degree was focused on editing and teaching, not on creative writing. It wasnβt until after I graduated that I finally gave fiction a try, and it was my WHOA moment. I knew within *days* that thisβwritingβis what I was meant to be doing.
Is there a genre(s) that you think βI might like to write one of those.β?
New Adult contemporary romance is totally my passion right now, but I looove paranormal romance, so yeah, I might like to write one of those.
Tell us about MAYHEM.
MAYHEM is a book for any girl who has ever fangirled over a rock star. Itβs the fantasy of falling for that irresistibly hot lead singer and having him fall for you right back. Rowan, the heroine, is an ordinary college girl whose life falls apart when her douchebag boyfriend cheats on her. And Adam Everest, the swoon-worthy rocker that he is, is a guy who never realized his life wasnβt complete until he met the girl who was missing from it.
Where did the idea for the storyline come from?
The storyline actually stemmed from the characters themselves, but the very first scene of Mayhem is actually similar to something that happened to me in real life when I was a teenager.Β A few friends dragged me to a concert, we were first in line, and when the lead singer knocked on the door of the venue, I had no idea who he was. In Mayhem, Rowan tells Adam, βTheyβre not letting people in yet,β and yeah, those were my exact words too. MORTIFYING!! But in Mayhem, Adam lowers those shades, smirks that smirk, and BOOM, I knew exactly who he was. I knew who Rowan and Adam were long before I knew what their story was going to be, and then scene by scene, it all just came together.
What do you think readers will like/love about Rowan and Adam?
I think theyβll love how real they are. We really get to see the characters at their lowest lows and highest highs. I think readers will be able to relate to Rowan and her struggles to figure out what kind of life she wants. And I think theyβll like that Adam isnβt a traditional alpha hero. Even though I personally *love* alpha heroes, I also love how laid-back Adam is, how heβs easy to get and hard to get at the exact same time.
What was your favorite scene from the book?
There are so many! The one that makes me laugh every time is the one where Rowan and Adam are late to class. Itβs so themβAdam taking his dear time and not seeing what the big deal is, Rowanβs head about to explode as she rushes him around. Hand-holding, construction, a chihuahua named Tinkerbell. I love it.
Who are some of your book boyfriends? What draws you to them?
I looove Travis Maddox from Jamie McGuireβs Beautiful Disaster and Will Herondale from Cassandra Clareβs Infernal Devices series. Thereβs just something about boys who are so flawed, or so broken, that it just makes you want to love them moreβ¦ I canβt get enough of them.
If you had to pick a favorite cocktail of choice, what would it be? (It can be non-alcoholic too)
I *always* ask to see the specialty drink menu, and I love trying new drinks. But one of my go-to cocktails is definitely a strawberry margarita, on the rocks, sugar on the rim. <3
Whatβs next for you?
RIOT!! Rowanβs best friend, Dee, is up next in the Mayhem series, and her relationship with the bandβs bass guitarist, Joel, is one of the hottest, most tumultuous relationships Iβve ever written. The book is full of steam and drama and moments that had me laughing while I wrote them, and I canβt wait to hear what readers think! It releases in two weeks, on February 10th. And in the meantime, Iβm finishing writing the third book, CHAOS, which is going to rock just as hard. π
Thanks so much for being a stop on my blog tour! I really, really loved these questions, and I had so much fun answering them!
“When the door opens behind me, I sit up straight and hurriedly sniff in my tears as I wipe my shaking fingers across my slippery cheeks. I hear the flick of a lighter, and then someone sits down next to me on the stairs, puffing a cigarette. When I look over at him, I nearly choke.
He gazes back at me, starting at my hot-pink heels and then raking his way up, and then he chuckles. βAre they letting people in yet?β
Adam. Heβs ditched the shades and cap, and now his dark brown hair is framing his gorgeous face, stretching almost to his chin. I look away quickly, hoping he canβt tell Iβve been crying.
βSorry about that,β I say. And I hear the hoarse sadness in my voice, but I couldnβt keep it out.
When he reaches over and brushes my tangled hair away from my eyes, I tense.
βIs everything okay?β he asks, and I half laugh. No, everything is not okay.
βEverythingβs fine.β
βThen why have you been crying?β
βNo reason.β
βYou get all dolled up to sit outside of rock shows crying by yourself?β
I lift my gaze to stare into his eyes, and something in them makes me believe he really cares. Or maybe thatβs just what I want to see, but I suddenly need to tell someone. βMy boyfriendβs in there.β
βAnd?”
βWith another girl. I just caught him cheating.β
Adam takes a deep puff of his cigarette, nodding as he sighs it back out. βWant me to fuck him up?β
I laugh, and he smiles at me. βWould you?β
βIf you want me to.β
βWhy?β
He shrugs. βBecause I offered.β
βWhyβd you offer?β
βWho knows why I do anything I do?β He stares at me while I wait for an answer. βI just do.β
Thatβs a good enough explanation for me, so I look back to my knees again, letting out a shaky breath. I canβt believe I just laughed. At a time like this, Adam Everest made me laugh.
βAnyway, your boyfriend is a dumbass,β he says out of nowhere.
βHow do you know?β
His gray-green eyes wash over me. βLook at you.β
I blush like hell, but I know heβs just trying to make me feel better. βYou thought I was an idiot when you first saw me.β
Adam chuckles and shakes his head. βI thought you were cute as a peach.β His lips hold the cigarette in his mouth as he stands up, holding a hand down to me. My heart stops; Adam Everest is offering me his hand. In faded denim jeans, all torn up at the knees, and a fit olive-green button-down rolled up to his elbows, he makes my heart race to a nonexistent finish line. βCome on, Peach.β
I take his hand, and he lifts me to my feet, leading me away from the building. βWhere are we going?β
βTo get you a drink. I think you need one.β
βIβve had a few,β I think out loud, slowing to a stop.
Adam gazes over his shoulder at me, his eyebrow cocked when he asks, βAre you saying you donβt want another?β
I take a moment to consider his question.
Just a moment, and then I keep walking.” –Jamie Shaw, Mayhem

Ms. Shaw, please do write a paranormal! I loved Mayhem and could only imagine how awesome a paranormal written by you would be. What “creature” would you base it around? Vampires and skinshifters are kind of overdone right now. How about picking from mythology or literature? Caliban has real possibilities.
