Kenna’s Thoughts
I have to say that, “Apples and Gin” from Jenna Jones is one of the sweetest romances I’ve ever read.Β I mean it, and I’m not just talking about just in a male/male story, but in ANY category.Β I was so pleasantly surprised by it!Β Sure, the blurb looked interesting, but I was just amazed and how much I enjoyed reading it.
Sawyer is an up and coming country music star, and he meets Noah, a well known celebrity photographer, when the record label sent him to have his picture taken for his first album.Β There’s obvious chemistry between the two of them, but they don’t become a couple right away…and their journey begins.Β I don’t want to give anything away, but I do want to say that I really liked Ms. James’s writing style.Β She started the book in the present, then went back ten years, then back to the present, then back nine years, and so on.Β I know that may sound a bit convoluted, but it really wasn’t.Β It was very easy to follow and also quite smooth.Β We got to meet Sawyer and Noah and get to know them as men, watch them grow, and look into their lives together AND apart.
I smiled A LOT as I read.Β Of course, there were a few moments when I started to tear up.Β There was just enough angst to move the plot along.Β There weren’t many sex scenes, Sawyer and Noah certainly made them count!Β They were hot, but they were tender and romantic as well.Β These men just fit together so perfectly, and I fell in love with both of them as the story progressed.
This isn’t a very long book.Β In fact, I read it in one sitting in about an hour, but it was a fantastic hour.Β It’s been a long time since a short read has been so satisfying to me.Β I loved everything about it, and I can’t gush about it enough.Β Please, please, please get yourself a copy of “Apples and Gin”.Β You won’t be disappointed.
