Interview

Tell us about yourself.

Hi Shannon! I’m so happy to be here with you today. I’m Katy Evans, author of the Real series and the upcoming Manwhore series. My debut, Real, came out in 2013 and from then on, I’ve been thrilled to be sharing my characters and stories with readers. I’m especially excited about sharing with them the very first book in my Manwhore series, MANWHORE, out March 24. 🙂

2.     What three things about you might surprise your readers?

Well, let’s see….

Maybe they don’t know that I’ve only ever been in love once and I’m still married to him, after 19 years. He’s my soul and I’m his mate.

I believe in energy healing and have different natural stones around for when I’m feeling the need for inspiration, relaxation, or simply for luck.

I sing badly in the shower, in the car, in the kitchen, in my office, I sing badly everywhere there’s a song playing to which I know the lyrics!

3.     Is there a genre(s) that you think “I might like to write one of those.”?

I love thrillers. Like LOVE. I’m addicted to them. I also love women’s fiction, it’s the type of read that relaxes me and makes me think about the meaning of things. I’m hoping I eventually get to try my hand at both a women’s fiction story, high on the romance, and a thriller, high on the romance.

4.     Tell us about MANWHORE.

Oh, I can’t believe the day is finally here and I get to share this story with readers. Okay, so, MANWHORE is the first of a series of adult contemporary romances centered in Chicago. My heroine, Rachel Livingston, gets an assignment to find juicy little tidbits about our playboy, notorious hero, Malcolm Saint. Saint has QUITE a reputation both in business and with the ladies. She expects to meet a total player but is completely surprised when he actually turns out to be so much more. Theirs is such a slow burning but fiery love, it consumed every piece of me from page 1.

5.     Where did the idea for the storyline come from?

I’d just finished one of my books and I was brainstorming for new ideas when I went to a signing in Chicago. I casually had a glimpse of a guy’s image on TV – I’m not sure what his name was or much of what was being said on television except that he had many followers and was a total player. It really piqued my interest. I couldn’t stop wondering who he really was – public image aside. And then Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint just appeared in my head and fried all my brain cells. 🙂

6.     What do you think readers will like/love about Rachel and Malcolm?

I think readers will be able to truly relate to Rachel, the heroine. She’s very contemporary, hard-working, friendly, young, driven, but also innocent in many ways. She’s very human and I love this about her, and I hope readers connect to her humanity as well as I did.

Now, for my hero. Oh, he’s just this very sexy devil in a business suit. He’s got quite a reputation, Malcolm Saint does. They say he’s a player, a manwhore, and of course with all his billions and his striking good looks, who doesn’t want to be with him? He’s worldly and experienced, self-contained, but also playful and reckless. In MANWHORE, we first get to see him from the outside, but it’s when the real man begins to show that you, like the heroine, are in danger of falling for him.

7.     What was your favorite scene from the book?

I have so many favorite scenes in MANWHORE. But the very first scene I wrote for this book, a scene which really planted the story in my head, is a very sexy club scene. Rachel wants to get “closer” to Saint so that she can glean more information about him and his wicked lifestyle. So, after managing an invite to this posh party that he’s hosting, she dolls up and appears only to discover that Saint’s playboy friends have summoned her to their table. A table where Saint himself is lounging back. It’s the first time Malcolm actually seems to show a little bit of interest in her, his interest especially noticeable when his friends start showing their interest in her and Saint calmly feels the need to put a stop to that with one single word that I love hearing him say, to this day.

8.     Who are some of your book boyfriends?  What draws you to them?

I’m drawn to alphas, mostly. There’s just something about a man who has power but knows how to wield it that appeals to me strongly. I love all the heroes in Kresley Cole’s IAD series, I also love Gideon Cross from Sylvia Day’s Crossfire series and I love her other heroes too, she writes great heroes! If the hero of the story is strong but protective of the heroine, I’ll probably be melting.

9.     If you had to pick a favorite cocktail of choice, what would it be?  (It can be non-alcoholic too)

I’m a Bloody Mary fan, but sometimes I enjoy a glass of wine or sip of Bailey’s on ice. A shot of Lemoncello after a big meal at a restaurant? I’ll never pass.

10. What’s next for you?

Well, let’s see. I’m currently finishing MANWHORE +1, the continuation of MANWHORE which releases July 7th, and then I’ll probably take a short break and come back to the cave to start on the next. I can’t wait to share!

Thanks so much for having me over today!

CnB About the Book

22892122Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?

This is the story I’ve been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.

Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.

Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.

But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I’m the one discovering him…or if he’s uncovering me.

What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
