Tell us about yourself.
I love to sing and play piano and guitar. Iβm married, with two kids who are way cooler than I am. I hate math. I studied art and design at Arizona State University. I started writing in college, as a hobby, and never thought it would turn into anything more. I used to be a bank teller, which is ironic considering my hatred of math. And I love, love, love writing books. For real.
What three things about you might surprise your readers?
I canβt type without looking at the keyboard. Seriously. Iβm like a six year old. However, I type really really fast. Go figure. Haha.
I wrote my first novella, Sophie & Carter, in one day while sitting at table inside Barnes & Noble.
I used to live in Hawaii, where I surfed everyday and lived on fruit and fish. Le sigh. It was amazing.
Is there a genre(s) that you think βI might like to write one of those.β?
Horror! Yes, I said it. I want to write something freaky and disturning. Haha. Iβm not sure if Iβm capable of such darkness, but I certainly want to try it sometime. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!
Tell us about Right Kind Of Wrong.
First and firemost, you should know that itβs a road trip book. Jenna and Jack are two snarky and heavily-tatooed friends who mostly bicker, but have agreed to drive cross-country together despite their tendancy to snap at one another. Thereβs a lot of sexual tension between, though, which of course leads to your typical I-hate-you-please-kiss-me nonsense, but at the endo f the day, theyβre truly best friends. I absolutely loved writing it.
Where did the idea for the storyline come from?
Jenna was a secondary character in the first book of the series, Best Kind Of Broken, and just really wanted her to have her own story, you know? Sheβs a strong character, though, so I knew sheβd need a strong male counterpart so I created Jack and then decided to trap them in a car for half a week and see what happens. Haha. Andβ¦voila! Right Kind Of Wrong came to life.
What do you think readers will like/love about Jack and Jenna?
I think readers will like how sassy Jenna is and how she doesnβt tolerate BS from anyone. And I really hope readers like how unafraid Jack is to say what he feels. Heβs this big, scary guy, with a dark past and dangerous connections, but heβs not afraid to be honoest about his feelingsβor afraid to love.
What was your favorite scene from the book?
I love the scene where Jack comes home all bloody and Jenna banadages him up in the bathroom. It starts off as a quiet scene, where theyβre both discovering new depths to one another, then builds into a turning point. Thereβs also some hotness in there, which is always fun.Β
Who are some of your book boyfriends?Β What draws you to them?
Will Herondale from the Infernal Devices series is probably the best example of my favorite kind of book boyfriend. Broken. Reckless. Desperate. Irreverent. You know..your typical bad boy with nothing to lose and even less to gain. I also really like Morpheus from the Splintered series. Heβs esentially Will, but with wings. And, like, terrifying cleverness.
If you had to pick a favorite cocktail of choice, what would it be?Β (It can be non-alcoholic too)
I know this sounds boring, but I have to go with your standard Martini. Vodka. With an olive. Straight up. I know. Lame. But ah! Itβs so my favorite. βΊ
Whatβs next for you?
Right now, Iβm working on the sequel to my contemporary love story Sophie & Carter (so fun!) as well as a fantasy series. The fantasy series is very primalβall blood, fire, lust, death, and desperationβand I absolutely love working on it. Haha. Other than that, Iβm writing a horror novella, which is really more of a suspenseful romance than anything else, and a middle grade fantasy series. I know that sounds like a lot, but really, Iβm probably working on at least ten other stories as well. Iβm constantly bouncing around from manuscript to manuscript. Itβs a wonder I ever finish anything at all. Haha.

Opening my car door, I slide into the driverβs seat, turn to put the key in the ignition andβ
βAhh!β Jumping back, I thwack my open palm against the gigantic body of pure muscle seated in the passenger seat. βDammit, Jack! You scared me!β
βGood morning.β He grins.
βWhat are you doing in my car?β I snap, throwing him some serious stink eye.
βIβm going with you to Louisiana.β He nods to a large duffle bag in the backseat.
I blink. βUh, no youβre not.β
βUh, yes I am.β
βLike hell.β
He crinkles his brow. βIβve never understood that phrase. But okay. Iβll go with you βlike hell,β whatever that means.β
βGet out of my car.β I point to the door.
βOh, Jenna.β He clucks his tongue. βThis will be good for both of us. Listen.β He casually leans against the passenger window and pierces me with his gray eyes. βFor reasons beyond my control, I need to go back home. And for reasons beyond your control, so do you. And since our βhomesβ are right next door to one another, I figured weβd carpool to Louisiana and you can just drop me off at Little Vail on your way to New Orleans.β
He gives me that little-boy smile of his and itβs all I can do not to lean forward and soak it in. I hate me.
βI donβt see how thatβs good for me,β I say. βAt all.β
He shrugs. βYou get some company on the road.β
I nod with a clenched jaw. βAnd you get a free ride.β
His smile grows and I instantly realize that was the wrong thing to say.
βPrecisely,β he says.
I canβt afford to spend any excessive time with Jack. Not just because we fight, but because of what happened last year. It was one crazy night when we were both drunk, and we never spoke of it after the fact, but our βfriendshipβ has been tense ever since.
βWell, I donβt need any company,β I say, shaking my head.
βSure you do,β he says easily. βEveryone needs company.β
βNot me. So get out.β
He grins. βNo.β
God I hate him. But not really.
God I hate that I donβt hate him.
I jut my chin and stare him over. βFine. If you wonβt remove yourselfβ¦β Exiting the car, I stomp around the hood to his door, yank it open, and wrap my hands around his bicep. Then I start pulling.
He doesnβt budge. Like, he literally doesnβt move an inch as I tug at his oversized arm and grunt like Iβm trying to move a massive piece of hardwood furniture and not a human being.
His eyes dance as he watches my struggle. βWhatβs your plan here, Jenna? Haul me out of the car and leave me in the street?β
βSounds good to me.β
βWell, that doesnβt sound friendly at all,β he says, flicking the lever to recline to seat a bit so he looks even more relaxed than before.
βI wasnβt trying to be friendly,β I grit out.
βClearly.β
I try pulling him out again, to no avail. Heβs giant and solid, and honestly, just touching him is turning me on.
I drop my hands and glower at him. βYou canβt just tell me that youβre coming along on my road trip.β
He cocks his head. βWould you feel better if I asked?β
βNot especially.β
βJenna.β He leans forward and his gaze bores through me, down into the deepest parts of my being. βWill you please let me join you on your trip to Louisiana?β
For a moment, Iβm lost in his eyes, debating with myself. I donβt trust myself around Jack. Not at all. But I did spend half the night tossing in my sleep with nightmares about traveling alone so maybe having Jack tag along might not be so bad after all. Maybe.
Pulling back, I straighten my shoulders and relent, like usual when it comes to Jack.
βFine,β I huff out as I stomp back to my side of the car in climb in. βBut no talking,β I say, hoping I havenβt just made a huge mistake.
He grins and I turn away.
Surely I can manage to keep my panties on around Jack for a few daysβ¦right?
Chelsea lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where she spends most of her time writing stories, painting murals, and avoiding housework at all costs. She’s ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. She lives with her husband and two children, who graciously tolerate her inability to resist teenage drama on TV and her complete lack of skill in the kitchen.Β
