Shannon’s Thoughts
COME TO ME RECKLESSLY was another AL Jackson book that sent me on an emotional rollercoaster, which is something AL Jackson is really, really good at doing.
Christopher Moore was a character we were introduced to in the first 2 books in this series. Β He was a bit of a manwhore, but you figured he was young and sowing his wild oats. Β But in COME TO ME RECKLESSLY we discovered there is so much more to Christopher than we ever imagined. Β He was broken and using whatever means he could: Β alcohol, women or both, to numb his feelings and to not remember his ‘light’.
Samantha Schultz was Christopher’s high school sweetheart. Β She owned him completely, but her inexperience and faith were constantly at war with the intense feelings she had for Christopher. Β And when they were tested, by her parents forced separation and his foundation shattered, Samantha’s trust in Christopher and herself was severely broken. Β So when she comes face to face with part of her past in Target, everything Samantha had been running from for seven years became the same things she found herself running towards…no matter the outcome.
There was no doubt in my mind these two characters were meant to be together. Β The sheer depth of Samantha’s terror and Christopher’s ‘hate’ (because he never really hated her, even though he said he did) meant they had big feelings for each other. Β But I had to wonder how AL Jackson was going to get these two past all the hurt, the lies and Ben for them to be together. Β She definitely didn’t make it easy on the two of them. Β They each harbored their own set of hurts over what happened to them, but once Christopher put that stake in the ground and said he was going to stop hurting Samantha, you could tell things would be OK….eventually.
I loved the chemistry between these two. Β Despite some of the harsh things he had said to her early in the book, Christopher was careful with Samantha. Β He knew she was fragile and needed him to hold back, even if it was killing him. Β It was a testament to just how much he felt for her, that he was there to praise her when she needed it or just to make her smile. Β And with Christopher, Samantha grew. Β She shed the timid girl who did as she was told and became the woman who could do whatever she wanted, be who she wanted, with the right kind of support.
AL Jackson’s couples never have an easy road, butΒ she always brings them out the other side with a solid foundation and a knowledge they can get through anything together. Β Samantha and Christopher were no different. Β You knew their faith in themselves and each other would get them through whatever storm they faced and they would always be together.

By the waist, he lifted me, pinning me to the wall with the hard planes of his body. I could do nothing but wrap my legs around his hips. He rocked against me, the friction of his jeans igniting that fire, the threat of Ben fueling those flames. He buried his face in my neck as if he didnβt want to see, his bite aggressive as he turned to nip at my jaw, at my chin, moving to my lips. “Told you I wouldn’t let you go. Not ever again.”
His frenzied voice ached with regret.
“Never,” I told him, grinding myself on his erection that was pressed tight between my thighs. I felt desperate to erase the distance Ben had tried to wedge between us.
Christopher seemed even more fractured over it, unable to fathom the idea of what Ben had tried to force on me.
βI just got you back and heβs trying to take you away.β
βIβm hereβ¦Iβm here.β
βHere,β he said as if a demand, tearing at my clothes, overwrought as he rushed to palm every inch of exposed skin. My shoulders were pressed to the wall, my chest heaving with harsh breaths. He pushed up my shirt and dragged off the cups of my bra. My breasts felt heavy and full as he looked on them with a stuttered groan. He splayed his hands across my back, dragging me forward, and his mouth was there, drawing my nipple into his hot mouth, sucking hard before he turned to the other.
I bucked, my hands fists in his hair.Β
He wrapped an arm low around my waist, his body leaving mine for a fraction of a second, and without setting me down, he dragged my shorts and panties from my legs. Fumbling, he pushed his jeans and underwear down around his thighs.
Without warning, he thrust into me.
I cried out from the perfect invasion.
No condom.
No heed.
Christopher took me completely.
Recklessly.
