Review: Fall With Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Fall With Me was a fantastic installment in a series that has kept me glued to it since its first book. I can’t get enough of this author, her characters and her angsty, heartfelt stories.

I absolutely love this book!

Roxy and Reese have been friends since they were teenagers. Reese, being older, has always found Roxy an interesting and carefree girl he carefully watched from afar, but their age difference kept him from seeing her as more than a friend. Or at least that’s what he liked to tell himself.

The moment Roxy saw Reese, she was in love and no matter how hard she tried over the years to get his attention, he seemed to never want to go past the friend-zone with her. Then, through a series of events including Reese leaving and a tragic loss that has scarred Roxy, she decides to just be his friend when he returns, vehemently denying her true feelings for him and the way she’s felt for the past six years, knowing the love she has for him could ultimately destroy her.

Then one night changes everything including their strained friendship, but after another eleven long months of separation, Reese has decided enough is enough and he wants back the only girl he’s ever cared for.

The push pull between Roxy and Reese was expertly done. I couldn’t stop reading about these two characters. Roxy was spunky, exciting and her nerd glasses, quippy quote shirts and artist abilities were only a few of the things that made her stand out. She was sincere and caring and wore her heart on her sleeve even though she tried really hard to put up a stern face and impenetrable walls. I did think she was a little naive about certain things, like the mystery surrounding her and the things happening to her. And at times I thought she was a bit more hesitant and resistant to the growing love between her and Reese than she needed to be and her repetitive denial was a bit overdone. But all in all, I really loved her character.

And the sub-story of her and Charlie was brutally tragic. I got teary eyed more than once… and I loved every minute of pain this character goes through because it was real and connectable. I felt for this girl. I felt for Charlie even though we get very little time with his actual character. That’s the wonder of this authors writing. She’s a genius at pulling you into her stories and making you “feel”.

Reese was suave and sexy. He was suffering a traumatic past of his own and though he experienced things that gave him nightmares, he never gave up. He was hurting and in pain but he pushed through, making a life for himself he could be proud of. I absolutely adored the way he treated Roxy. The way he cared for her, looked at her and talked to her was beautiful.

And these two together were steamy hot! Wow. I loved everything about their romance and they were explosive in the bedroom!

This story picks up years after the hero and heroine meet and the author did an amazing job giving us plenty of background on their relationship. And then she gives us a slow, beautiful, butterfly inducing built to a sexy, raging romance that had me all swoony and giddy.

The mystery and suspense surrounding all the things happening to Roxy was well played. I found myself biting my nails in anticipation of what was to come, more than once. It was thrilling and a little scary. I loved it!

Jennifer L. Armentrout writes sexy, heartfelt stories with plenty of angsts and hot heros and savvy heroines. This book encompassed all those things and more. It had a wonderful start, a gripping middle and a perfect ending. And I loved all the recurring characters that gave us more insight into their lives and how they were doing after their own stories.

I know this will be one I read time and again!
