Elizabeth B’s Thoughts
What a fun book! I think that is the best way to describe Midnight Diamonds. The story had angst, drama, conflict, and a really great slap in the face (literally), but the overall feeling when I reached βthe endβ was FUN!
We meet Silver Madison at the end of a horrible day that is just getting worse when our hero, Justin Rivers comes to the rescue. One of the best lines in the book comes during their first meeting when Silver thinks that βShe’d give up a year of golden Oreos to slide her hands under his shirtβ¦β Both Silver and Justin are great characters. They have issues to deal with and the issues create some great scenes throughout the book.
About halfway through the book, after Justin played the white knight for Silver (okay, his scuzzy ex manager caused the problem, so he should fix it) I thought I knew where the book was going, but I was wrong! The curveball took the story from what appeared to be sweet, but a little formulaic to really entertaining.
Both Silver and Justin matured as people in the second half of the book as they each dealt with their own drama. I ended up respecting both of them for how they handled everything. The secondary cast in the book isnβt huge, but they are interesting and I look forward to seeing their stories as the series continues. One more element to the βfunβ of the story was the role the secondary cast of characters had in helping Justin make his grand gesture to redeem himself and get his happy-ever-after with Silver. I am hoping that we will see glimpses of Justin and Silverβs story in future books.
