Michelle’s Thoughts
Planning for love was a funny book with lots of romance. This is a follow up to Heart of Design, a previous book written by Ellen Butler that featured Poppy Reagan as the heroine’s best friend. This is Poppy’s story.
Poppy has decided that it is time to settle down following a tryst in Hawaii with a sexy doctor. Her last relationship ended when she caught him cheating on Valentine’s Day. I was in stitches reading what happened. I had to reprimand myself and sympathize for Poppy, but this author has the golden pen when it comes to comedy writing. Anyway there is hope for Poppy because her former lover, Dr. Adam Patterson, sees this as his opportunity to be more than a fling.
Poppy enters the hilarious world of computer dating determined to find “The One”. She is also fixed up by friends only to find herself in the most entertaining of circumstances. When Adam contacts her to meet him for round 2 of their tryst she decides to join him. Adam plans to woo her into a relationship. Unfortunately, baggage from previous relationships and family history get in their way.
Poppy knows she has to do some soul-searching and ultimately the good guy wins. I loved that both had to decide that they were willing to give up everything for the other. I laughed, cried, and cheered as Adam and Poppy came together. I loved the use of older characters with real concerns about how to navigate merging their lives and coming together.
