A year after his abusive stepfather went to prison, Jonny Foster is finally establishing the life heβs always wantedβwith one exception. The growing feelings he has for Russ just wonβt go away, not even when Russ makes it clear they can only be friends. After one too many rejections, Jonny decides he needs to build a life without Russ, but thatβs just the beginning of his troubles.
Russell Bozeman has wanted Jonny since the moment the frightened young man arrived in Cade Creek. Even knowing how badly Jonny was abused doesnβt make Russ want him any less. It just tells him that he needs to control his desires.
After one night of unbridled passion, Russ is positive heβs lost Jonny forever, but an angry confession from Jonny gives him hope. Positive he can win Jonny back, Russ calls in all of Cade Creek to help him. But someone doesnβt want them to be together, and they will do anything to prevent it, even commit murder.
Jonny Be Good is the fourth book in the Cade Creek series by Stormy Glenn.Β While this book is part of a series, it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel with ease.
Jonny Foster is getting his life on track.Β He has a job that he loves and keeps him busy.Β He is getting past the abuse his stepfather put him through.Β The only thing missing is someone special share his life with and Jonny has an idea of who he wants to fill that role.Β Jonny is a man who has a strong spirit and is easy to care about.
Russell Bozeman is a farmer who works with Jonny brother Ethan.Β Russell has been attracted to Jonny since he met him but due to the abuse in Jonnyβs past keeps him at bay.Β Also Russell does not go out of his way to find out any information about what Jonny does all day and seems to make assumptions rather than try to find out facts.
The connection between Russell and Jonny is blistering.Β I loved that both Jonny and Russell were not perfect and each had to struggle with their pasts and short sightedness.Β Β I loved how what Russell was shown how wrong he was, he goes out of his way to make it up to Jonny.
I found this book well written with an interesting plot. I enjoyed how the author incorporated romance and suspense in realistic and believable way. The main characters and the secondary characters were enthralling.Β The ending of the story was predictable but this story is more about the journey to the end than the end itself.Β Overall, this was a very captivating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.
