Party-girl and bayou babe Camilla Lind treats life like a game. After sleeping with her sisterβs fiancΓ©, sheβs struggling to change, but karmic payback is a bitch. When the actions of her past crash into the present, they stand to ruin her future...and destroy any chance of love with the only man sheβs ever wanted. Rancher Jared Richardson guards his heart carefully after suffering the pain of infidelity. He never expected to fall for a woman like Camilla Lind, nor did he think heβd follow her across the country to beg for a second chance at love. As Hurricane Katrina bears down on them, can they weather the storm and put aside past hurts to embrace their future together?
If you are looking for a quick book to read in an afternoon then this is the book for you.
Camilla has left home and is Wyoming in what can be called a self proclaimed exile from her New Orleans home. Β She deeply hurt the one person who trusted her and is now trying to become the better person and prove to her sister she has changed.
Jared has come home to help his brother with their Wyoming ranch as well as help him get ready for his wedding. Β He meets Camilla one night in a bar and the sparks fly for both of them. Β The problem is he was hurt by his wife the exact same way Camilla hurt her sister along with the fact she is ready to go home a romance is the furthest thing from her mind.
What worked for me was I really liked the characters from the main characters to the secondary characters. I also thought the detailed description of Wyoming and the tradition of the south made me feel like I was there.
What didnt work for me was the book while shorter I did feel like Jared’s character was a little under developed. Β For a man who was hurt by a women in his past he fell for Camilla in what seemed like less then a few days. Β I think the author did a good job trying to address this but it still felt forced. Β Other than that I really enjoyed the book and liked the HEA.
Shannon,
Thank you so much for spending time with Camilla and Jared. I appreciate your kind words.
Smiles,
Linda Joyce
