Alastair MacKay, a battled-scarred Dragon Knight flees to the sea to separate himself from his fae-given power connecting him to the land. But it is on land that he rescues a woman from a slave trader in Ireland. It is through Fiona he steps back inadvertently into a world filled with magicβ€”taking on the role of protector and at the same time leading him on a journey to confront his greatest regret and fears.

Research assistant, Fiona O’Quinlan loves translating ancient artifacts at Trinity College. When she falls asleep on an archeological dig, she awakens in another time. She soon discovers a Dragon Knight’s relic has been entrusted into her care. Determined to return the artifact to the Great Glen, Fiona is unprepared for the danger aheadβ€”losing her heart and soul to Alastair β€œBeast” MacKay.

Will their love be strong enough to soothe the beast and heal the man? Or will Death swing its axe, leaving them lost for all eternity?

I’ver read the other two books in the series and I loved each one but not as much as this one. The first book hooked me to this series as should every book one of a series should and I fell in love with the guilt ridden brothers. There was so much tragic pain that I needed to see how each brother would turn out. The second book was okay, it kept me interested but not as involved as the first. But this third book, Alister’s story, I didn’t want it to end.

Sure there isn’t much about the threat they face from the enemy who tricked them into killing their sister but the emotional turmoil Alister is in as the cause of the tragedy that ripped his family apart, keeps you rooting for him. Hoping he will allow himself to be loved and fall in love and finally forgive himself and heal. This book satisfies all your emotional expectations and you can’t help want more.
