Review: Eastern Embrace by Stormy Glenn

I am so happy to have discovered the “King’s Command” series.  I reviewed “Wicked West” last week and had no idea that there were three more stories to be had.  The premise is that there are human clans and dragon clutches in every part of the kingdom.  In order to protect that kingdom from enemies on all sides, the new king decides to mate a human and a dragon in order to unite clan and clutch to not only protect the kingdom, but to unite ALL of the residents.

In “Eastern Embrace” we have Akihiro and Isei.  Akihiro is a fierce dragon warrior, and Isei is what is referred to as a “second son”.  In essance, that means that he is more or less a servant while his older brother is in charge of their area of the kingdom.  However, his brother didn’t feel like going to the new king’s coronation celebration.  He told Isei to impersonate him.  Of course, at the mating, the king knows that he’s not his brother, but still declares him to be the co-leader of the new keep that was built for dragons and humans alike.

Almost instantly, Akihiro and Isei fall in love and begin their journey to their keep and the first part of their new relationship.  Nearly as instantly as they fall in love, they find trouble.  They dragons believe humans to be weak, and Akihiro feels the need to protect Isei.  he keeps him shut in their bedroom while he “works” to organize everyone.  He thinks he’s doing the right thing, but Isei feels trapped…especially when they discover that he’s carrying an egg.

I’ve given away quite a bit here, so I’m not going to go any further.  What follows is one of the most angsty and frustrating stories that I’ve read, and guess what?  I LOVED IT!!  Olivia Black and Stormy Glenn gave me a beautifully written love story with deeply detailed characters and locations.  I could imagine the men in my mind, and I could actually feel what they were thinking.  The background characters, intrigue, and danger are so well plotted.  I also feel that I should mention that the love scenes between Akihiro and Isei are so sexy, yet so romantic.  They’re hot and tender at the same time.

I read this story, and the remaining two, in one weekend.  This one is, by far, my favorite of the whole series. If you like your MM stories to be sexy and exotic, with a bit of the paranormal, this is for you.  It can be read as a stand alone, and you don’t need to read them in any particular order.  I just picked one and went with it.  Trust me here.  These are really awesome books!
