Review: Opening Up by Lauren Dane

I have been a Lauren Dane fan since I discovered her Chase Brother’s series a couple of years ago, so I was excited at the opportunity to read the first book in her new Ink and Chrome series.

Opening Up introduces us to Asa and PJ; they are both what you expect from Dane main characters. He is an Alpha with a soft side, tattoos, piercings, and a kinky side. She is a bit of a rebel who fits him just perfectly.

There is a fun story as Asa and PJ come together and it is wonderful to see how supportive he is of her ambitions. They also have explosive chemistry and the sexy times between the two of them are great. Unfortunately, the sexy time is my one complaint about the book. I hate to say it, but there is almost too much of it. I love that Asa and PJ are that attracted to each other and freely express that attraction, but I felt like the sheer number of times that they fell into bed distracted from the bigger story. Some of the sexy time scenes also felt a bit repetitive just because they were so frequent. At times, it felt that the author was trying to push boundaries just because instead of servicing her story.

I’m curious about the next book in the Ink and Chrome series and hope that the series begins to resemble the awesome stories I have come to expect from this author.
