Perfect for fans of Christina Lauren, Emma Chase, and Maya Banks, the anticipated finale in New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy’s sexy contemporary romance series about three fiery and determined sisters with their own ideas about life and love.

I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head on, I’ve run away. Far away this time, and no one can catch meβ€”not my two younger sisters, Violet and Rose, not my father, my grandmother, or that witch Pilar who wants to take control of my family’s cosmetics company. Now I’m in Hawaii, enjoying the sun and the sand and water, where nobody knows the hot mess known as Lily Fowler. And I’m loving every minute of it.

But someone is watching me. Following me. He’s gorgeous. And soon we’re talking, and against all my instincts, I reveal bits and pieces of myself to Max. It feels good, though I know he can’t be the man for me. These sudden feelings we share are way too complicated, too fraught, too intense.

Then everything explodes and I’m forced to return home. My intentions have always been true, but now everyone’s mad at me. I don’t know who to turn to anymore . . . except to Max. He’s who I want to trust. But I’m not so sure I should. Maybe it’s worth the riskβ€”and what-ifs be damned. . . .

Taming Lily is the third installment of the Fowler Sisters series. We meet β€œtrouble maker” Lily as she runs away from a problem at home and goes to Maui. Max, hired by her enemy, follows her there with the goal to steal her lap top.

It doesn’t take long for Max and Lily to cross paths and his plan to get thrown out the window by a case of mutual instant lust. The action and sexy times between Max and Lily take up a lot of the time in the first part of the book with just dribbles of plot development. As hot as the sexy time was, it started to feel a little repetitive without more to break it up.

The bits and pieces of plot development we got early on come to fruition in the later part of the book. We see both Max and Lily grow up a little and work to do the right thing. They also confront what happened in Maui and what it means now that they are back in New York. Lily’s tender side comes out once they are back home and we see behind the bravado to issues she’s been dealing with for a long time.

I definitely enjoyed Taming Lily, but I do wish that there had been a better balance between the story and sexy times. Having not read the prior book in the series, I was a little worried that I would be lost in the one, but I wasn’t, it works well on its own.

I am a full time mom who works part time. I squeeze reading in wherever I can between work, volunteer stuff, and kid activities. I read a little bit of everything, but really enjoy indie authors and Happy- Ever-Afters. I've been reviewing for Cocktails and Books since January 2015.
