From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Where Sea Meets Sky comes a new adult novel about a young woman who becomes a nanny in Capri and falls for her chargesβ bad-boy brother.Itβs time for twenty-four-year-old Amber MacLean to face the music. After a frivolous six months of backpacking through New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia, she finds herself broke on the Mediterranean without enough money for a plane ticket home to California. There are worse places to be stuck than the gorgeous coastline of southern Italy, but the only job she manages to secure involves teaching English to two of the brattiest children sheβs ever met. It doesnβt help that the children are under the care of their brooding older brother, Italian ex-motorcycle racer Desiderio Larosa. Darkly handsome and oh-so-mysterious, Derio tests Amberβs patience and will at every turnβnot to mention her hormones. But when her position as teacher turns into one as full-time nanny at the crumbling old villa, Amber finds herself growing closer to the enigmatic recluse and soon has to choose between the safety of her life back in the States and the uncertainty of Derioβs closely guarded heart.
Karina Halle has done it again. Racing the Sun is a beautifully written story about a healing love than can bring a family back together after a tragic loss.
Amber is a girl who just wants to travel the world and escape her American life. But the traveling has left her broke and no way to get home. She takes on a job teaching English to two 7 yr. old twins who have lost their parents and are left in the care of a much older brother and a nanny who is at her wits end. When the Nanny finally quits Amber finds herself becoming the new nanny and taking care of the children and the older brother. I was really happy NOT to see any Sound of Music themes here.
Derio Larosa is a 29 yr old Β hot Italian Stallion taking care of his deceased parents estate and is the legal guardian his 7 yr. old twin brother and sister. He is a loner stays to himself. But what he wants is the attention of the new teacher who he has brought on to help with his siblings. Β And boy does he get it.
The twins were a little on the wild side. But you could understand why. They finally let Amber into their hearts. Though it was because of a trick they played her that almost cost her her life.Β The romance between Derio and Amber was a slow beautiful build. Karina did not rush it. And because of that it felt believable. The conflict came when Derio wants to go back into racing, and when he does he leaves Amber home alone with the kids. This is where I really starting liking the book. Any woman who stays home while the husband goes on about his day will understand why. The Italian dialect was fun. I can honestly say I after finishing this book I came away with a little Italian in me. Caprice?
