Oblivion is a sweet, sweet place.
No pain. No disturbing thoughts of the past. No guilt from my recent actions.
Deep down, there is still a part of me that knows how screwed up I am. I donβt see a way out, not now. Triaβs gone, and the possibility of her forgiving me in my current state is exactly zero. I know I have to pull myself together, accept my responsibilities, and try to make amends, but I have no idea where to start.
No job. No apartment. Iβm living on the streets with the other junkies. As little as I had to offer Tria before, I have nothing to give her now. The only way out is to come clean and tell Tria the truth about my past, but the idea of reliving the memoires is so painful, I canβt think about it long enough to figure out a solution.
Iβve hit rock bottom, and I donβt even know which way is up any more.
This was most definitely a series that grew on my. Β I wasn’t sure about Liam and Tria together when I finished the first book. Β But as book 2 and 3 took shape, there was an very large emotional journey to be taken and I couldn’t put the last two books down.
Liam and Tria meet when he rescues her one night from some would be attackers on her way home from work. Β Liam scares Tria, just a little bit, but she feels safe with him. Β The first book focuses on the friendship that develops between Liam and Tria. Β We learn about her Tria’s past and how she deals with her “family” and why she left.
As we moved into book two, the romantic relationship between Liam and Tria begins. Β They build their own little world in their little apartment, learning to love and trust one another. Β It’s in this book where things start to turn. Β We knew Liam was running from monsters, but we begin to see just what those monsters are. Β And as we move into book three, we have to wonder if Liam is going to be strong enough to fight those monsters. Β Not only for himself, but also for Tria.
I loved book two and three. Β The emotional depth of these characters got me. Β There were times in book two where I wished someone would shake Liam, telling him to get his head out of his arse. Β But as book three rolled around, I wanted to hug him and tell it would be alright, despite knowing he had to take this journey for himself.
These were my first Shay Savage books and I have to say she had me hooked. Β The series may have started a little slow, but the pace picked up, emotionally captured my attention and made it very, very hard to put the books down.
[rating-report]
I watched Yolanda walk out of the cage. Β Apparently, I kept looking in her direction too long. Β I took a blow to the head before I realized the fight had started.
I stumbled back, shook my head, and regained my footing. Β I raised my fists up in front of my face, and danced lightly on my toes, waiting for his next move. Β We circled slowly, jabbing but not finding our marks. Β My head swam again.
I needed to put an end to this. Β I needed to get it over with so I could take my winnings and get more smack. Β I had come down too hard and too fast. Β I had to get straight again.
I rushed him, striking out with my right and then my left. Β I took an elbow to the face, and felt my neck snap back.
The next thing I knew, I was on my back, and the guy was straddling my chest. Β I registered my head being thrown from side to side with punches, but I couldnβt focus enough to get him off me. Β I jabbed at his sides, but it was ineffective.
With my head spinning, I slammed my hand against the ground three times.
βWoo hoo!β Β The challenger jumped off of me and started running around the small cage.
I could hear cheers, boos, and people screaming at me, but I couldnβt comprehend the words. Β I rolled over and pushed myself up before stumbling out of the cage.
βJesus, Liam!β Β Back in the locker room, Yolanda fussed around the cut over my eye and my bloody lip as I tried to push her hands away and get my jeans back on. Β βWhat the hell is wrong with you tonight?β
βJust forget it!β I yelled. Β βI need to get going.β
βOh yeah? Β Whyβs that? Β You got nothing waiting for you at home.β
I pulled my shoulders close together and bit down on the pad of my thumb. Β I didnβt remember telling Yolanda about Tria leaving, but apparently I had. Β I was afraid to open my mouth now. Β I tensed every muscle to keep myself from trembling. Β If Yolanda noticed, sheβd figure out why.
If she figured it out, sheβd stop me.
Is that such a bad thing?
Yes, most definitely.
I couldnβt risk it. Β I couldnβt have Yolanda knowing what I was doing and dragging me somewhere to clean up. Β She would take back the cash sheβd just given me, and Iβd be royally fucked. Β I couldnβt let that happen.
βI gotta go,β I said again. Β I shouldered past her and out the door, ignoring her calls after me. Β I didnβt stop at the bar or acknowledge the fans around me as I left.
I took the cash Iβd earned to Max and traded it for all the heroin I could get. Β I returned to my apartment and banged up.
Bliss.
Everything was perfect.

This isn’t fair. I don’t “do” Facebook, and many others won’t either. However, you require a Facebook account to enter this giveaway? I’m VERY disappointed.
Nihcki,
Unfortunately, Cocktails and Books is not running this giveaway. It’s being hosted by The Rock Stars of Romance Promotions, which the author is working with to promote this series. Sorry for the inconvenience.
