As Michael’s eyes lit on a female not twenty feet away, he knew without a doubt that it was her blood that called to him and her scent that had awakened him. This female had tethered his soul and returned it to him.
Soul Survivor
He is the last of his race. The one true king of the vampires. Michael Aristov roams the nightclubs of L.A. after dark, haunted by his past and driven by his hunger. The last of the Ancient Ones, he alone has survived the destruction of his race at the hands of the slayers. Now he is forced to hunt and feed like a common vampire, a creature of lust. Nothing in this world can fulfill his needs…until he meets a woman who’s everything he’s ever wanted. And more.
Sweet Salvation
Her name is Claire Thompson. Her blood is so sweet, so intoxicatingβ€”the smell alone draws Michael to her like a moth to the flame. Sly, sexy, and seductive, Claire seems to be the only mortal who can satisfy his craving and seal his fate…forever. Can she be trusted? From their very first kiss, the last true vampire sweeps Claire into a world in which darkness rules desireβ€”and where falling in love is the greatest danger of all…

After centuries of barely living as a soulless creature of the night, Mikhail has finally found the keeper of his soul. The one person created to be his mate and return his soul to him. Unfortunately for him, she’s a human.

Baxter gives us everything we look for in a new series. Hot, potential heroes abound as do villains set to destroy everything they’ve built. What was most surprising was the fluidity of Baxter’s story. The overall flow of the characters and story line was practically flawless. So much so that I found it difficult to believe this is only this author’s second published book.

I enjoyed it so much, that this book would have been a solid five if not for a heroine who continuously put herself in danger even knowing what was waiting out there for her. I mean who does that? She’s been confronted at work, attacked on a crowded street, used as bait and almost killed. Yet somehow staying alive is only secondary to her independence.

Even secondary characters were fully developed with their own sub plots which UI hope develop into future books. Baxter is a completely new to me author, probably new to many people seeing as how this is only her second book. However, if The Last True Vampire is any indication of her writing style, I’ll be keeping an eye out for future books by this author.

I am a lover of alpha males with dirty mouths, strong heroines putting alpha males in their place, and the Chicago Blackhawks. I'm a proud hockey mom who can often be found at the hockey rink cheering on my favorite forward, with my kindle close by.

Thanks for your review! I’m interested to read this; it sounds as if it’s inspired by the BDB, how it used to be. I’ve put it on my Amazon wish list, as well as the second book in this series, coming out soon. Your review got me wanting to check out this author. I hope you also review book 2, T
