As Jessica Subject is a new to me author, I wasn’t sure what to expect. We reviewers pretty much take our chances when we choose to review a book by an author we’ve never read before. However, with a title such as Taken by the Billionaire Alien Next Door, it’s bound to be either a very ridiculous story or a very fun read. At the very least it would be good for a few laughs and a good time. It seems I was both correct and wrong in my assumption. The humor that I expected in a short novella with such a name just wasn’t there. It was however an interesting read and an entertaining hour of my time.

At 25 pages it honestly did not take me very long to read at all. I found the concept to be an interesting one, although due to it’s short length does leave one with many unanswered questions. The story’s fast pace left me wanting more. More story, more of the characters and basically just more overall. It has a great concept that with further development could be a fantastic scifi erotic romance. It could definitely use with some fleshing out and a couple more chapters. For instance, I would love to have heard more about Erika’s father. How did Laken’s family get here and why are they still here? What’s going to happen now that Laken has taken a liking to Erika? I have so many more questions, but they would begin to border on to spoiler territory and we can’t have that.

In the end, if you’re looking for a short and sexy read and don’t have a lot of time, this could definitely hit the spot. Just be prepared to have unanswered questions
