It pains me to say this but I am not sure what is happening with this series.  First, I adore Kristen Ashley.  Some of her old work is still my favorites to date.  The Chaos series is not.  Every story starts out well and at some point just doesn’t keep me entranced.

On just another day, Millie decides to hop into Chipotle and her worst nightmare happens.  Her old boyfriend, her only boyfriend, Logan “High” is in line in front of her.  She freaks, runs out and realizes that although 20 years have gone by, she in fact is still not over their relationship especially with how it ended.

For the last twenty years, Millie hasn’t been living.  She has been existing.  She loved Logan and sending him away was the hardest thing she has ever done.  It wrecked her.  It wrecked him and neither have recovered.  Millie decides she needs to see him and she wants to tell him why it ended.  She needs closure and she figures he does too.  Millie crashes a biker party and to say it goes poorly is an understatement.  Logan is angry and he throws it all at Millie to include rough, hot sex.   I actually enjoyed this part of the book.  It was super angsty and times hard to read as two people who clearly loved each other continue to hurt each other and come to terms with their relationship both past and present.

About halfway through, the story line took a plunge for me.  They had new issues to deal with and new territory to navigate.  I don’t want to give much away but I didn’t love the storylines.  Millie and Logan’s relationship went down in heat and spark halfway through the book and all the other issues were front and center.  It was a turn off.  I also felt like the second half of the book was a building block to the next book to the point it pushed this story out of the way.  There were a few inconsistencies and even some dropped storylines that I didn’t understand.  Also, you always get a great bad guy/suspenseful storyline from Kristen Ashley.  This one was just meh.  Not much buildup and then the ending was a let down.

I’m not one to stop a series midway through so I will continue to power on but I will say this wasn’t my favorite.  Millie and Logan had an epic love story that started out super hot in the book and kind of fizzled out for me.  I expected better from Ms. Ashley and I will hope I get just that in the next book.
