Review: Exclusive Access by Ravenna Tate

Oh my goodness!  I loved this book!  Ravenna Tate just does it for me.  Her stories are well thought out, interesting, and hot, hot HOT!  All of her characters are fully fleshed out.  She breathes life into them with details that may seem small, but when put together, make a person with depth and personality.

“Exclusive Access” is the four intsallment in the “Weathermen” series, and it’s just as great as the first three.  Here’s a simple rundown of the premise.  In the future, a computer program that was made to help with the weather is hacked causing huge and destructive storms all over the world.

The surviving population must move into massive underground cities that were built during a nuclear crisis several years before.  Enter the “Weathermen”, twelve VERY rich friends who are determined to not only find the hackers, but also try to repair the damage done by them.

Here, we have Kane Bannerman and Julianne Wallis.  He’s a brilliant financier, and she’s a reporter.  Five years ago, under false pretenses, Juilanne seduced Kane and then wrote a derogatory story about him for the paper she was working for at the time.  Even though she wrote an apology and printed a retraction, Kane still despises her.  However, he’s never forgotten her or the amazing sex they had right on his desk.  Now, Julianne is back, working for another (and respected) publication, and she wants to do a story on the Weathermen and their attempts to find the hackers.

That’s it as far as spoilers are concerned.  The rest is a story of intrigue, excitement, and romance.  I loved every bit of this one.  With each installment of the series, a little more is revealed about the computer program, the hackers, and the Weathermen themselves.  The pieces are starting to fit together nicely.  It’s also very obvious that Ravenna Tate has researched the subject thoroughly.  She’s not just making things up for the sake of fiction.  With more and more attention being paid to global warming, the books are very current.  There is a lesson here, but it’s not preachy.  It’s thought provoking for sure.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about the romance between Kane and Julianne…or the sex.  Let me just say that “Exclusive Access” has one of the hottest scenes Ravenna Tate has ever written.  I read it three times…once to my husband, even 🙂  Their chemistry is completely off the charts.  It’s not just amazing sex, though.  Their feelings for each other develop quickly, but they’re sweet and tender.  I loved them together.

This was a fantastic book.  I would say that it’s not a standalone story.  You need to start at the first book, “Appetite for Blackmail” to get the full scope of what’s happening.  You won’t regret it, though.  Trust me.
