If you like political intrigue, romance and my favorite reuniting with your first love who you thought was dead than this book is definitely for you!

This is a story about Kate – she is only 22 years old and 3 years before she lost her fiancΓ© when he was fighting in Afghanistan.Β  Kate and Matt have known each other since they were children, grew up as best friends and the when Kate turned 16 year old Matt (who was just waiting until she was old enough) told her how he really felt.Β  At 18 they were engaged and then Matt unlisted.Β  Kate is the daughter of an influential Senator and has 2 sisters; all three sisters are estranged from their parents especially their father who has had multiple affairs (1 sister is a product of said affair) and has had some morally unethical dealings.Β  Kate believes that her father is the one who may have had Matt killed and because of this Kate has made it her mission to get to the bottom of Matt’s death.Β  As she gets closer to the truth her life is in danger and 1 night after someone breaks into her apartment a mysterious stranger saves her from the intruder.Β  Not recognizing him at first (his appearance is altered) she sees its her thought to be dead fiancΓ© Matt and that when things really get interesting.

Matt did not have any intention of showing himself to Kate but when he saw what Kate was doing he started following her.Β  Doing everything he could to protect her from a far he realized that was no longer possible.Β  He has changed since being gone and doesn’t want to continue to put Kate in danger but the more time they spend together solving the mystery and sharing their nights together he realizes he an no longer deny his feelings.Β  He needs Kate as much if not more then she needs him.

Overall I loved the writing and the story.Β  There is action, danger and romance and it’s a lot of fun to read.Β  It was fun reading the story since it takes place in Washington DC I could easily imagine the places that the author describes.Β  The dialog is quick between the two main characters and as the find each other again they seem to fall in the same habits and learn how different both of them are in this experience.Β  This is the third book in a series but I didn’t feel like I missed anything, though I would like to go back and read the first 2 books about the other sisters.Β  Each has their own demons to fight through and I like that in a good love story.Β  This book is also written in dual POV’s which I also love.

All in all I do recommend this book if not the whole series.Β  While there is no cliff hanger I do hope there is one more book in the series to revisit these characters.
