From the author of Taint, comes this steamy novel of a happily married couple who decides to take a walk on the wild side in order to add spice to their sex lifeβbut end up in a situation that neither could have ever bargained for.
Heidi DuCane is a tough-as-nails publicist with a passion for success and her husband Tucker. While theyβre polar opposites, what they do have in common is a fierce love and commitment to each other. But their relationshipβin and out of the bedroomβwill be put to the ultimate test.
Rock superstar Ransom Reed is every womanβs fantasy, including Heidiβs. When she meets Ransom, she shares a wild night with him where Heidi gets to playβand Tucker watches, and enjoys, the pleasure Ransom gives Heidi. Though Tucker was a willing participant, Heidi still canβt help reeling with guilt. Thereβs no doubt that she loves her husband. While Tucker is the perfect loverβgenerous, attentive and gentleβshe needs much more. She needs the mind-blowing ecstasy Ransom offers.
Tucker isnβt blind to the fact that Heidi has unconventional needs which he canβt satisfy. He loves his wife and will do anything to please her The night he watched her and Ransom was so scorching hot that Tucker canβt stop thinking about it. He decides he wants to join Ransom in pleasing Heidi. But as Tucker and Heidi soon realize, itβs not just the sex that is enticing. Heidi felt something within her awaken, and she felt so deliciously sated and loved by both men. Tucker felt it too, and he finds it impossible not to want that feeling again.
Ransom and Tucker satisfy a need within Heidi. And now that sheβs had them, she can never go back to the way things were before.
Going into this book I thought I knew what to expect. Β I had read S.L. Jennings first book in this series Tainted and enjoyed it β the second book had a completely different tone with some twist and turns that I am not sure totally worked
Tucker and Heidi have been married 10 years. Β Tucker was Heidiβs psychiatrist helped her to get past a horribly violent attack that left her scared in more ways than one. Β Heidi a beautiful take no prisoners publicist who is committed to both her job and her husband. Β She wishes though that he would not treat her with kid gloves even after 10 years β their life together is mundane and full of routine especially when it comes to sex. Β Tucker wonβt even consider Heidiβs repeated requests to take their sex life down a darker path; the cookie cutter approach is not working for her any longer. Β Enter Ransom a hot rock star who is 7 years Heidiβs junior who leads a completely different life β one that very much intrigues Heidi.Β
After a night that takes an unexpected turn the 3 of them are thrown together and have a connection that makes Heidi feel guilty and unworthy of her life with Tucker.Β To try and fix their marriage they escape to Justice Drakes Oasis to try and revitalize their marriage β with Ransom in tow where things go into an even darker, more manipulated place then before.
This to me almost seemed like 2 different stories β one about a womenβs exploration of her dark sexual side and the man who can help make those fantasies come true.Β The second was a book about manipulation and while you may think you are doing something for all the right reasons you really arenβt.Β There were quite a few references to Cruel Intentions and after reading the book I got why.Β Β The main characters are not particularly likable and that made this books twits a hard sell for me; which I didnβt have that problem with in the first book.Β The ending tries to make everything ok with a happy ending β not sure if I completely bought it.Β
I do happen to thoroughly enjoy SL Jennings writing style β her narrative and dialog are great and she can write a fantastic sex scene.Β I also loved the epilogue the set up for a third book was well done and I am really looking forward to that story.Β
Overall I think Tryst has enough good points against the bad to recommend it.
