The New York Times bestselling author of Reaperโs Stand is back in her โuber-alpha rough world of MCsโ* as one womanโs future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy herโฆHe never meant to hurt her. Levi โPainterโ Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyaltyโa loyalty thatโs tested when heโs caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.
Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way sheโs learned to fight for her future. Sheโs escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she canโt forget. It all started out so innocentlyโjust a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.
Now Painter Brooks is coming homeโฆ and Melanieโs about to learn that thereโs no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.

Reaperโs Fall by Joanna Wylde is the latest installment in the Reaperโs MC Series, featuring Painter and Melanie. Theyโve been in the backstory of the rest of the series, and they are front and center for this one. Painter and Melanie love each other to distraction, and they have a long history that sometimes helps them, and sometimes hinders them. This book started off with a bang. I read that prologue and I was hooked, ready to dive into Melanie and Painterโs story and I just knew I was in for a wild ride. Except it wasnโt. Immediately after the prologue you are transported to five years in the past, and then the next eighty percent is spent explaining their backstory and making it to the moment in the prologue.
It was like watching a rollercoaster that didnโt end well and there was so much drama in their relationship it made my head spend. They werenโt together for most of the story because they were both being too stubborn and there was quite a bit of overlap with the rest of the series. It gave a feeling that the series was paused and the story was stunted, since only the last 20% of the book dealt with the time period beyond the prologue. And when you got to the part she alluded to in the prologue it just seemed anti-climatic because youโd been waiting for that action that never quite materialized. As usual Joanna Wylde is an elaborate storyteller, but there was something missing with this one.
