RECIPE FOR DISASTER
The most infamous moonshiners in Lone Star history, the Tuckers and the Sawyers have been feuding for over a hundred years. Sure, the days of buckshot and bloodshed are long gone, but itβs not over yet. To save the family business, Callie Tucker has to find the recipe for the legendary Texas Thunder moonshine. But first sheβll need to make a devilβs bargainβwith a red-hot hellraiser named Brett Sawyer.
ROMANCE WITH A KICK
A Sawyer through and through, Brett was raised to never trust a Tuckerβespecially one as pretty as Callie. But desperate times call for desperate measures. With his ranch going bankrupt, Brett agrees to help Callie find the recipe, sell the rights, and split the profits. Of course, it wonβt be easy for these two enemies to work together. But itβs even harder to ignore the sparks of attractionβwhen just one kiss delivers a kick stronger than any swig of moonshineβ¦

In Texas Thunder, we meet Brett and Callie. These two come from feuding families and have a long history of their own. When we meet them Brett has just returned to Rebel to save his familyβs ranch; Callie has just buried her grandfather and has to come up with the money to save her family home.
The story behind Texas Thunder has a lot of potential, but for me it got off to a slow start. I liked both Brett and Callie, but felt like both characters could have been developed more fully. The story between the two also left some excitement on the table. Brett and Callie and one disastrous date 10 years ago. We see the event from both of their points of view, but they never have a conversation resolving the issue between themselves.
Brett and Callie team up to try and solve both their problems and discover that the old attraction is still there. They also have some hard conversations about their goals and current situations. We see both characters grow, but I didnβt find myself invested in them.
Overall, this was a decent read. I enjoyed my visit to Rebel and am curious about what happens next for the Tucker sisters.
