When Nadine Jarvis’s father disappears in a tornado on the surface during his Storm Trooper duties, life-long friend Addison Carlyle puts together a search team. Nadine convinces him to let her come along, where she embarks on a journey that changes her life forever.
Addison is part of a group of friends financing the efforts to put a stop to The Madeline Project. The program now has a mind of its own, thanks to a virus called Tommy Twister. These men have power, resources, and money, but they’re as ruthless and possessive as the storms ravaging Earth.
They call themselves the Weathermen…

Cocktails and Books received this book for free from Manic Readers in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.

Every time I read a new installment of “The Weathermen” series, I get more and more impressed.Β  They’re exciting, sexy, and actually, pretty informative.Β  It’s obvious Ravenna Tate has researched meteorology and explains things without overwhelming the reader with too much technical detail.Β  This is also the case with the descriptions of computer hacking and satellites.

I don’t want to go too far with spoilers.Β  Here’s a quick rundown of the base plot of the series.Β  It’s the future, year 2125, and Earth has been pretty much destroyed by rampant storms…hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, flooding, and much more.Β  Most of the population lives underground in cities that had been build during a nuclear war scare back in 2072.Β  Back in 2112, some weather experts had created a computer program that was supposed to prevent major weather disasters, but a group of hackers loaded a virus into the program, and the destruction began.Β  Now, twelve very wealthy college friends who call themselves “The Weathermen” are not only trying to put a stop to Earth’s future extinction, but they’re also intent on finding the hackers and bringing them to justice.

In this sixth book, we have Nadine whose father in a Storm Trooper.Β  Those are people who go to the surface to track storm patterns and gather valuable data about the storms.Β  Her father has disappeared, feared lost in a tornado, and she’s devastated.Β  Nadine has suffered a horrible experience that she’s managed to keep a secret from nearly everyone.Β  Next, we have Addison.Β  He’s Nadine’s father’s best friend.Β  Fourteen years older than Nadine, he’s longed for her as much as she’s longed for him.Β  Her father warned him away, though, so he’s been a serial dater (and a bit more) for about nine years.Β  Addison has made his money as a procurer of goods from the surface.Β  People pay him to find valuable objects, and he’s very good at itΒ  So, he’s going to go up with a team of Storm Troopers and some people who work for him to try to find and rescue him.Β  Nadine decides she wants to go along, and Addison is somewhat reluctant, but he agrees.

What follows is an exciting adventure, and yes, I mean that.Β  It puts me in mind of the Indiana Jones movies.Β  Of course, there is also a romance developing between Addison and Nadine.Β  It’s a slow build up.Β  Nadine is gun-shy due to her past, but she is finally ready to pour her heart out to Addison and move on with her life.Β  I love that Addison was so sensitive.Β  He is understanding and sweet, and he’s never pushy.Β  When they finally come together, it’s romantic and sexy…VERY sexy, and they get sexier as the story goes along.

I was very satisfied with the ending, but I’m not going to tell you about it πŸ™‚Β  I think you need to read it yourself.Β  However, as I mentioned, this is the sixth installment in the series, and you really need to start at the beginning with “Appetite for Blackmail”.Β  More and more details are revealed with each book.Β  The mystery is closer to being solved, and you’ll be completely caught up.Β  Definitely pick these books up!
