TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT is the third book in Erika Kelly’s Rock Star Romance series and each book is a stand-alone about a different member in the rock group Blue Fire. I think Erika Kelly is a talented writer, has a great voice and she knows how to writes well developed, realistic characters. I love this series about the guys in Blue Fire, it pulled at many of my emotions and I felt like I was right there with them. The band and everyone connected with them work well together and care about each other. The guys in Blue Fire are not your typical party animal, rock and rollers. They are down to earth, talented, hard working musicians on the cusp of great success and once they fall in love, they don’t cheat. Sure they have lots of women before they fall in love, but once they find the right woman, they are committed to her.
This story revolves around Calix Bourbon, a session musician working with Blue Fire as their keyboardist. Calix clicks with the guys in the band in every way and they ask him to join the band, but Calix refuses their offer. He would love to play with Blue Fire permanently, but he needs to stay close to his family.
Mimi is currently working as a personal chief for Blue Fire. She loves working with the band but only plans on staying with them until she finds a better job that fits with her career aspirations. Mimi has spent her life trying to please her father and her goal is to work in one of his restaurants.
There is a lot of chemistry between Calix and Mimi and their relationship builds slowly. They are incredible hot together, have a passionate relationship and they can’t keep their hands off of each other. Mimi makes Calix think about the decision he has made and the direction of his life and for the first time, in a long time, he wants more out of life. I liked everything about this story, but I have to admit, I wish Calix wasn’t so conflicted. Calix has many good points and is an awesome guy. However, I did get frustrated with him because he continually hurts Mimi with his hot and cold attitude. He is continually messing up and hurting Mimi and she forgives him a little too easily. I enjoyed reading this entertaining story, can’t wait to read the next one in the series and would highly recommend it.
