When graphic designer Eve St. Aubin walks into an art exhibit and finds herself in a heated kiss with world renowned artist Kyle Sebastian, her memories whisk her back to the summer they’d shared five years earlier. He’d been her mentor in more ways than one… until he left without a word. Now she has nothing to say to him… or at least that’s what she keeps telling herself.

When he met Eve, Kyle’s career had been in the tank. Lighting the fuse on her talent had rekindled his own artistic ability. Loving her, watching her blossom as a woman had inspired him to new heights. He'd had to let her go back then, but he always knew he'd see her again. Now that he has, he's not prepared for the edgy woman she’s become, nor did he expect he'd still be in love with her.

When explanations aren’t that simple, and no common ground seems to be had, how will they overcome their past to create a future? Or can they?

I had never read this author and I am so happy I found her.  I really enjoyed this book!

This is a story of Eve a young women who is tired of living her parents life.  A budding artist she goes away for the summer away from her family to explore her art and what her options are.  Accepted to Harvard Law School she knows that is not for her – she really wants to get her masters in art.  She escapes to an island near Detroit where she can draw, work and just figure out her next move.

Kyle Sebastian a world renowned artist is staying at the same island for the summer.  He has painted portraits of presidents been on display in museums and has been in the art world for a number of years.  He is staying in his home and is trying to escape the world.  He sees Eve and is fascinated with her and when he finds out about her artistic ability he starts to mentor her throughout the summer.  As his feelings for her grow he knows that she is not only young he has some personal issues that really make it a bad time to have any type of relationship with anyone.  The more time they spend together the more he knows that he at some point will need to let her go and break her heart in the process.

Flash forward 5 years – Eve dragged to a artist opening sees Kyle again everything stops for both of them

The exposition throughout the book is done so well – its like you can see what Kyle and Eve are painting through the words of the author.  The majority of the story takes place during their time on the island so you really get to fall in love with them as they fall in love with each other.  It was also great how the author drops clues as the story progresses about Kyle and what is going on with him.  You as the reader don’t actually find out the whole story until Eve does and I thought that was brilliant.  Told in dual 3rd person POV you are never truly inside either of the characters heads so while you know something is going on with Kyle you really don’t know what it is completely.  If I had one criticism it would be that some of the storyline was a little to convenient, which ultimately I was ok with mainly since the writing is so well done.

I definitely recommend this book its got heart, romance and its about second chances which I love.  If you have not read this author this is a great place to start.
