The latest Green Mountain Romance from the The New York Times bestselling author of It’s Only Love.
Charlotte “Charley” Abbott has gone out with every guy under thirty-five in Butler, Vermont—except for one. Tyler Westcott’s attempts to date her may be determined, and frequent, but Charley can’t stand how he acts like he knows her better than she knows herself. So when Tyler turns up at the running club Charley joined to train for a marathon, she’s almost ready to quit before she even gets started.   Tyler knows that behind Charley’s prickly personality and dismissive attitude is a sweet woman he wants in his life. And when Charley suffers an injury while training, Tyler is ready to prove that the perfect man for her has been right there all along...

In this 6th installment of the Green Mountain series, we get to visit with Charlotte (Charley) Abbot and Tyler Westcott. If you have been following the series, you know that Charley is the “prickly” sister in the Abbott family. Tyler is an unknown going into this installment.

Tyler’s pursuit of Charley leads to a running challenge that resulted in her falling down into a ravine and injuring her knee badly. Tyler not only runs for help, but also appoints himself Charley’s advocate in the hospital and take charge of her care afterward.

I enjoyed Ain’t She Sweet and it was typical of Marie Force’s style for this series (sweet and sexy, with strong family connections), BUT, I didn’t feel like it was the strongest entry in the series. Part of it was Charley, reading the other installments I formed an opinion of her. The character development here softened her somewhat as I got to know her, but not enough that I really got behind her. I was definitely more “Team Tyler.” The other thing that rubbed me wrong a little bit with this book is that Tyler’s character seemed to come from nowhere, but had a huge devotion to Charley. So much so that he was willing to put his life on hold for her AND her uber devoted family was okay with it.

As expected, this was a well written book. It is technically a stand-alone, but the “world” of Butler, VT and the Green Mountain series is elaborate enough that I would definitely recommend reading at least some of the other books in the series before tackling this one. The supporting cast and their multiple story lines that weave in and out of Charley and Tyler’s story make more sense with some additional background. I have to confess that I got a little distracted/irritated when about 2/3 of the way into the book, we left Charley and Tyler’s story to go check in with several of Charley’s siblings to “catch up” where with them and then also spend time with the cousins we will be seeing in future books. Some of it made sense as the events took place during the time line of this book, but it was just a little much all at one time.

If you have spent any time with the Abbot family, I think you will enjoy this addition to the series. I know I plan on coming back.

I am a full time mom who works part time. I squeeze reading in wherever I can between work, volunteer stuff, and kid activities. I read a little bit of everything, but really enjoy indie authors and Happy- Ever-Afters. I've been reviewing for Cocktails and Books since January 2015.
