While Zavier Sullivan may be the calm, reserved brother, his dragon is not. Especially since the beautiful, unorganized demi-goddess, Danielle Robertsβ€”a.k.a Elleβ€”moved into the mansion and into his life. She disturbs his OCD and makes him yearn for things he shouldn’t, but he can’t stay away from her. Nor can he deny her anything. Including his blood.
Ever since arriving at the home of the Sons of War, Elle has been plagued with dreams of the past and future. The visions are taking a toll, causing her debilitating headaches and ruining her sleep, but she doesn’t know what it all means. Her mother, Nyx, the Goddess of Night, has never bothered to show up and explain things to her. Until she arrives and unlocks Elle's powers, promptly transforming her into a half-daimon, half-goddess. Now, Zavier may be her only hope of holding onto her humanity, but can she bond with him after everything she’s seen? Especially in the midst of everything the Sons and their mates are going through.

The sons of War are at it again. Followers of this series have watched as the sons of Ares have slowly each met their mates and fallen in love. Considering that they are the Sons of War and dragon shifters, their matings have been less than typical or smooth for that matter. This one in particular though was especially gratifying to read because they didn’t just meet and decide they can’t live without each other. Zavier and Elle have been circling the attraction they feel for each other since book one. Zavier has always been the calm, more reserved brother of them all, except when it comes to Elle. From the moment they met we see a chink in his armor and we know that there is something special going on between these two characters.

With the build up of two previous books behind them, I was surprised at how relatively smooth their eventual mating was. I expected fireworks that would set Zavier’s carefully ordered world aflame. That’s not exactly what we got. Don’t get me wrong, it was by no means sweet and sedate. It was most definitely steamy and sexy, but I expected more from the characters that have been playing keep away with their feelings for each other for two books.

I must say this, Davis can write one hell of a story. Her very unique world building ability treats us to a world where anything is possible. Men can shift in to dragons, goddesses and demi gods can just pop in for a visit when they feel like it, and everyday evil is just a hair’s breath from destroying the world. Chaotic War is most definitely one you should not miss. However, as Zavier and Elle actually met in a previous book and theirs is a relationship that has built up over the span of the series, it is this reviewer’s recommendation that prior to reading this book, the first two books should be read.
