SHE'S A SMALL-TOWN GIRL WITH BIG DREAMS.
Nine years ago, Neve McKay fled her small Southern town and disapproving family to seek a career in the big city. Now she's finally coming home - and hoping for a fresh start. But the relationship that shattered her world still haunts her. And even among her nearest and dearest, she doesn't feel safe.
CAN THIS BAD BOY BE THE ANSWER TO HER PRAYERS?
Ian Campbell is a pure Scottish muscle - as hard and handsome as they come. But when Neve walks into his bar, his heart melts . . . and he vows to have this gorgeous and somewhat vulnerable woman in his life - for better or for worse. What is Neve's tragic secret? And how can Neve expect Ian to protect her, when doing so could put his own life at risk? The only thing Ian knows for sure is that he will do whatever it takes to keep her out of harm's way - and in his loving arms.

Neve left home 10 years ago; she has always felt like the black sheep of the family. After her parents were killed in a car accident and she the only survivor, Neve was left with her older brother and sister to take care of her. Neve used to getting her own way always took things to the extreme to the point where siblings didn’t really know what to do with her any longer. Deciding it was time to leave home Neve was accepted to NYU and her life wasn’t as easy as she thought it was going to be. Trying to escape her painful time away she decided it was time to come home, the problem being her brother and sister don’t know about what she has gone through and there are a lot of hurt feelings on both sides.
Ian Campbell is Neve’s brother Brannon’s best friend from Scotland. The 2 went to University together in London and when Ian was looking to make a change in his life Brannon offered him a job as a manager in his pub in McKay’s Treasure Mississippi. When Neve walks into Ian’s bar the first night the sparks between them were electric but Ian is worried about hurting his friendship with Brannon and Neve has a lot of baggage – can they make this work and fight off Neve’s past that happened to follow her to McKay’s Treasure?
There is so much to love about this book – the McKay’s are a complicated family and all 3 have baggage they have to deal with in their own way. The chemistry between Ian and Neve is fantastic and the time they take to get to know each other was great. Neve’s back story was well formed and well written along with Neve’s family. I did think Ian’s back story fell a little short, was a little confused on why he felt he need to leave home. The only other thing that fell short for me with this story is that there was a lot of cross story between the three siblings. I know that there are 2 other books following each of them so this book was trying to set up their stories but this book draws in a lot of characters and it can get confusing on who is who.
Other than those minor things – I did enjoy this story and I am looking forward to the next book in the McKay series.
