The first novel in a sexy new series featuring the hockey players of the Brooklyn Bruisers and the women who win their hearts—from the USA Today bestselling author of the Ivy Years series.
In high school they were the perfect couple—until the day Georgia left Leo in the cold...
Hockey player Leo Trevi has spent the last six years trying to do two things: get over the girl who broke his heart, and succeed in the NHL. But on the first day he’s called up to the newly franchised Brooklyn Bruisers, Leo gets checked on both sides, first by the team’s coach—who has a long simmering grudge, and then by the Bruisers’ sexy, icy publicist—his former girlfriend Georgia Worthington.
Saying goodbye to Leo was one of the hardest things Georgia ever had to do—and saying hello again isn’t much easier. Georgia is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional, but when a press conference microphone catches Leo declaring his feelings for her, things get really personal, really fast....

This book has 2 of my favorite things, second chance romance and hot hockey players. Needless to say reading it made me happy.
Georgia Worthington had a great life – hot boyfriend who adores her and accepted to a great college. Then things changed that cause her to change and not for the better. Not wanting to but her boyfriend through anymore she dumps him without explanation on graduation day. Something she regretted but was angry that he could walk away so easily. Now six years later – she is running the PR department for the Brooklyn Bruisers an NHL team and Leo has just been traded to her team. Now she has to deal with him on a daily basis.
Leo Trevi wanted just 2 things – to become an NHL player and stay with Georgia forever. When a tragedy hits them all those years ago he thought he was doing the right thing on how he handled the situation, but when Georgia dumps him with no reason he is reeling. He goes to college with really one goal in mind and after playing for a 1 1/2 years in the minors when his number is called to move to an NHL team the thinks life is moving in the right direction. That is until he sees Georgia for the first time and all the anger and feels come rushing back. Now he is determined to stay in the big leagues and win back the girl.
There is a lot of great things about this book – the history and chemistry between the two main characters was well written and I think very truthfully. The challenge they faced as teenagers and the choices they made has impacted them into their adult lives and I loved that part of the story. I also appreciated the author going into how a tragic event impacts everyone in different ways – even when the tragedy does not happen to them personally. Told in dual POV’s you see the main characters ARC which was told well. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
