I am a huge fan of second chances romance and books that offer second chances at life and this one is definitely an example of second, chance at life. I just wish I loved it more.
Kate has faced the unimaginable surviving breast cancer in her twenties this has made her appreciate life while her fiancee leaving soon after has scared her as well. Afraid of being hurt again she is unsure about men and doesn’t trust easily especially when it comes to the way she looks. That is until Cash steps into her world and shows her that not all men a created equal – in fact, some rise above the rest.
Cash a single father has been through his own life-altering changes. A vet he has seen battle and has the scars to show for it. Blinded in battle he is doing what is necessary to take care of his daughter though he is looking for more and after meeting Kate he thinks he has found the person he can share the rest of his life with. Now if he can just get her to trust him.
There are definitely some great things about this book mainly Cash and Kate. They have a great love story and I loved every moment with them. I also loved the secondary characters, especially Suzanna Cash’s daughter. She is bright and fun and loves her dad so very much. I bought into the dynamic of these three characters. Where the story fell short for me is with continuity throughout and plot points that were too coincidental. It took away the enjoyment of the love story which I honestly was disappointed that it did. There is also some suspense and action that while good was not great and a little too convenient. I did like the fact the story was told from dual POV’s – something I always enjoy.
Overall this is a good love story with just some glaring missteps throughout.
