four-stars

Carly Lincoln is just months away from claiming her overdue promotion. The plush corner office, the view, the prestige is finally within her grasp. She’s worked her entire life to make her dream, her reality. But when an unexpected boulder blocks her perfectly paved path, Carly is forced to reevaluate her goals.
Bryant Garrity is just months away from another season. Last year, the star quarterback crumbled to a mere mortal on the games biggest stage. The blood. The sweat. The tears. He’s back and ready to return to his spot among the elite. His sole focus is one last shot at glory. But the detour on the road ahead, might cause him to alter his route.
Love isn’t on either of their radars, but Carly and Bryant’s paths are about to collide.

This story started slow and in the beginning and I wasn’t sure I would like it but as the story progressed, I found myself becoming invested in the characters and enjoying the story more and more. This is a sweet story, I liked the characters and they have a lot of chemistry. Β There are also some heavy issues in this book and we see how they deal with them. Β This story is told from alternating POV.

Bryant Garrity is a quarterback with the Chicago Knights and he is rehabbing his knee while vacationing in the Caribbean. Carly Lincoln is a corporate travel agent working with a group of people in the Caribbean when her path crosses with Bryant. She doesn’t know much about football and has no idea who Bryant is when she first meets him.

Bryant is a nice guy. Β Even though he is a successful quarterback, he is sweet and vulnerable and I love the way he treats Carly. Β They start their relationship as friends and it slowly develops into more. Β Carly and Bryant are focused on their careers and have no interest in a relationship in fact, they believe it is impossible to focus on a relationship and also have a successful career. Β Even though they do not want a relationship because they are too busy with their careers, once they start dating they can’t get enough of each other.
