Some things in life are too good to resist.
Jenna Tucker has had enough: She wants out of her familyβs moonshine businessβfor good. With her share of the proceeds from a recently-revealed recipe, Jenna intends to renovate her grandfatherβs old spread and focus on her true passion: breeding horses. When she finds an old trunk in the atticβand learns a big secret about the long-standing feud between her family and the SawyersβJenna realizes that escaping her familyβs legacy wonβt be so easy. . .
Now itβs up to Jenna to uncover the truth once and for allβone that could change the history of Rebel, Texas, forever. To complete her mission she must enlist the help of Sheriff Hunter DeMassi. Hunter, a direct descendant of patriarch Elijah Sawyer, just might be the key to solving the age-old mystery.. The only catch: Hunter is handsome as heck, and neither he nor Jenna can deny the fiery attraction thatβs brewing between them. Is this a surefire recipe for ill-fated romance? Or are Jenna and Hunter just what their families need to heal old wounds?
Tempting Texas is the third book in Kimberly Raye's Rebel Moonshine series.
Cocktails and Books received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.
In Tempting Texas, Ms. Raye brings us back to Rebel, Texas and the stories of the Tucker sisters.
This time we are getting to know youngest sister, Jenna, as she works to turn her life into what she wants despite town gossip and prejudice. Her love interest is reformed bad boy, turned sheriff, Hunter DeMassi.
Jenna and Hunter are both struggling a bit against their own natural βwild sidesβ when they begin to cross paths on a more regular basis. The story has some intrigue and the true source of the Tucker/Sawyer feud is revealed.
I was enjoying getting to know both characters and watching them fight their romance then the author hit on one of my major pet peeves in a book series. She stopped telling Jenna and Hunterβs story to focus on the story of an obscure secondary character. This deviation from the main story occurred several times and in no way tied in to the main story being told. I was left scratching my head trying to figure out how these deviations tied in and it detracted from my overall experience.
