Angelique Durand had it all, beauty, a flourishing career as a super-model, and a fabulous existence living the high life in Europe. All that came to a crashing halt when she was arrested for a crime she didn’t commit and had a tragic accident that left her face disfigured. She’s come to Lobster Cove to hide and rebuild her life. Nothing in her future is certain except for one thing – she will never, ever stand in front of a camera again.

Tim Baldwin, a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist, was kidnapped by ISIS and held hostage. Rescued just before his scheduled execution, Tim returned to his family’s summer home. Suffering from PTSD, he has also lost his ability to take pictures. Things change when an intriguing woman moves into the beach house next door and she is the only subject Tim can photograph.

Can these two battered souls come together to find everlasting love?

When I started reading this I really didn’t know what to expect especially since I had never read the author before.  The story had an interesting hook I was just hoping for a little more from the story.

Tim a photojournalist who has returned home after being captured and tortured by terrorists.  Since coming home he has not been able to take a single picture, that is until he sees Angelique walking across the beach.  Angelique a former spoiled model has her own demons.  After being disfigured she moves to Lobster Cove to get away and try to start a new life.   When she meets Tim she sees that hiding away is not a solution she needs to find a new way to live a new life.

I enjoyed certain parts of the story – the challenges that both Angelique and Tim faced with PTSD.  I wish there was more exploration there. The story was a little all over the place for me that went in a lot of different directions and some of them not very well. Also, I found some of the storyline and character’s behavior not consistent.  There were parts that were not constant, people Tim supposedly grew up with but no acknowledgment in the story when the meet face to face.  Inconsistency with both who Tim and Angelique are supposed to be; Tim especially.   Some of the secondary characters were fun but still lacked consistency with their actions.

Overall it’s an ok story – I think it could have been better if the story had stayed on the main characters struggles.
