Sydney Walker s new job is perfect. As the live-in nanny to the most famous quarterback in the NFL and his beautiful wife, she couldn t have it any better. Their kids are adorable. Her bosses are more than generous. Plus, there are hot football players at the house all the time. Life can t get much better than this. Until her life turns into an absolute nightmare. The media is abuzz with rumors that she and her boss Drew Callahan are having a torrid affair. Everyone knows the truth except the public. So Drew s wife Fable comes up with the perfect idea. She creates a fake relationship between Sydney and one of the rookie players on Drew s team. Wade Knox is forever indebted to Drew and Fable and readily agrees to the set up. Pretending to be in a romantic relationship with the hot nanny for a week how hard can it be? Crazy how it only takes one week for two people to fall head over heels in love (This mash-up new adult romance features characters from both the One Week Girlfriend series and The Rules series.)"

I loved the Drew + Fable books and will always jump on a chance to delve back into that world and see what’s up with one of my favorite couples. SAFE BET revolves around Wade Knox, Fable’s brother’s best friend and their nanny, Sydney. And their romance starts in a familiar way….a fake girlfriend for one week.
I liked Sydney and Wade together. She was trying to turn her life around after being kicked out of her house and forced to grow up. Wade is trying to secure his spot on the Niners. Their connection is through Sydney’s new employers, Drew and Fable Callahan. Wade may have already been a member of the extended Callahan clan, but they easily brought Sydney in and helped her feel at home. And it was easy to see the draw between Sydney and Wade as they spent time together.
What I did miss in this book was the angst. There wasn’t any. These two go through a somewhat normal romance, if you take out the fake relationship. They get to know each other and build off of that. It was nice and sweet, even if I did miss the gut-wrenching part.
It was nice to catch up with these characters and made SAFE BET a quick, enjoyable read.
