This is second chance romance at its finest. Rebecca Yarros knocked it out of the park with Nova, the second Renegades book in the series. We pick up where we left off after Wilder (Book #1) finished with a heck of an ending. Rachel, Landon’s first and only love, is on the ship with the rest of the Renegades and neither had any idea the other would be there. Landon not only screwed up his own heart when he walked away from Rachel years ago but he shattered her’s. She has picked up the pieces of her heart but did she really ever get over Landon? Instead, she focused on helping Leah (our female lead in Wilder) get better and move on with her life but maybe she didn’t with her own. She still loves Landon and hasn’t moved past him. Landon knows he screwed up and he tries so hard to get Rachel to understand but she is gun shy and weary of his promises. I have to give Landon credit though, he never gives up. He never stops trying because he realizes pretty quickly that Rachel is the only girl for him. Can he stop his Casanova ways and be the man Rachel needs?
Watching these two slowly work their way through the muck of their past and realize the brilliance of what could be their future was my favorite part of this book. A close second was the cool stunts and amazing places the Renegades go. You feel like you are in Nepal or riding a wakeboard behind a cruise ship with these crazies. Rebecca Yarros doesn’t miss a single detail in this book. The story is consuming, the characters are well developed, and the details are on point!
