EVERYTHING’S HOTTER IN TEXAS
When Marine Force Recon captain Cullen Loughman learns that his father’s been kidnapped, he will do whatever it takes to find him. In order to achieve his mission, Cullen will need to team up with the best of the bestβ€”someone who just happens to be the most stunning woman he’s ever laid eyes on…
This isn’t the first rodeo for exβ€”Air Force pilot Mia Carter. Still, Cullen’s bad-boy good looks and charm are distracting her from duty. . .and it appears that the feeling is mutual. As Mia and Cullen make their descent into a dark, dangerous world, their attraction reaches the boiling point. But is their desire worth the risk when a ruthless enemy is waiting in the wingsβ€”or will their Lone Star love conquer all?

The Protector book 2 in the Sons of Texas series takes the same time period as book 1 and follows another brother through the mystery of their dad’s kidnapping. Β Its a great way of telling the same story from multiple points of view by following the 3 different brothers at the same time.

Cullen Loughman, Wyatt and Owen’s younger brother is on a mission to find Mia Carter, the pilot who flew their dad to Russia and who was witnessed to his dad’s kidnapping and the murder of 6 men. Β Cullen tracked her to Florida where she gets caught up in the middle of a bar fight and steps in to help her escape. Β Once back in Delaware where the kidnapping occurredΒ they realize that someone out to kill Mia thinking she witnessed the kidnapping/murders. Β Working together they track down the Russian mob and the ties they have to the US governmentΒ and a bio weapon that everyone is after. Β Not only can Mia take care of herself in a fight, she is beautiful, and stirs feelings in Cullen he has never experienced. A loner through in through he is just wanting to rescue his dad and then retire from the military to lead a peaceful life back in Texas. Β He doesn’tΒ count on the instant attraction he has for the beautiful pilot and her willingness to do whatever it takes to save his dad.

Told in 3rd person from multiple POV’s the reader gets a true sense of what is going on from Cullen and Mia’s perspectiveΒ along with glimpses of what is going on with his kidnapped dad. Β There are a lot of characters that are identified and the author does a good job making each one unique to help keep them straight. Β The plot is a little convolutedΒ though with a lot of drama and twists and turns it is hard to keep things straight. Β We do get cameos of both Wyatt and Owen but this is definitely Cullen and Mia’s book which I enjoyed. Β I thought both were well written and the chemistry sizzles off the page. Β There isΒ great romance and lots of action which I also really enjoy.

I am really loving this series – Β I do recommend reading them in order. Β The first book (Owen’s) really does set up the plot really well and you are properly introduced to the brothers and their women so it definitely is best to read The Hero first and then The Protector. Β I am looking forward to book 3 The Legend to see how this ends.
