To me, my favorite type of genre is second chance romance and my second favorite is a good suspense romance and I am so happy to say the Kiss Marry Kill is both all rolled up into one. This being my first Sidney Halston book I was not sure what to expect and I am glad to say that it won’t be my last.
Jax Irons just wanted to enjoy a baseball game, its opening day and everything is good. Everything except the girl sitting next to him with her boyfriend, a boyfriend who doesnt want to be there and its obvious to all around. When the jumbotron keeps flashing to the beautiful girl and her soon to be ex-boyfriend he refuses take the time to even kiss her. When the jumbotron flashes a third time Jax taking action and kisses the girl. Thats who a whirlwind romance starts but can only last for 4 days until he is deployed on his second tour. Flash forward 5 years, Jax who has been hell and back is now home and is running a successful security company when he sees the beautiful girl again, now in trouble and needs his help.
Megan Cruz has never forgotten those 4 days 5 years ago, she has based her whole career as a member of the popular TNT girls band. Now she is being stalked and all of a sudden her past is in her bedroom, vowing to do anything it takes to keep her safe. Jax has changed, though, harden with what he has seen and who he has lost and Megan will do anything in her power to show him he is still the same happy boy from all those years ago, the one she never forgotten.
Sidney Halston takes the reader on an emotional journey in both present and in the past and interweaves the stories together in such a way that the parallels are evident. Of the 2 characters, Jax has changed the most and reading about who he was and who he is now is heartbreaking and very truthful. Told in 3rd person the author does a fantastic job seeing each character’s POV in a non-traditional 1st person writing style which I think is even more difficult and something Ms Halston did so well. The secondary characters are fantastic on both sides and I am really excited to see this is going to be a series, so I am hoping some of my favorite characters are going to get their own books. I cant wait to revisit these characters again.
All in all, I highly recommend Kiss Marry Kill, well worth the time.
