From New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis comes her first women's fiction novelβ€”an unforgettable story of friendship, love, family, and sisterhoodβ€”perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins.

They say life can change in an instant…

After losing her sister in a devastating car accident, chef Quinn Weller is finally getting her life back on track. She appears to have it all: a loving family, a dream job in one of L.A.'s hottest eateries, and a gorgeous boyfriend dying to slip an engagement ring on her finger. So why does she feel so empty, like she's looking for a missing piece she can't find?

The answer comes when a lawyer tracks down Quinn and reveals a bombshell secret and a mysterious inheritance that only she can claim. This shocking revelation washes over Quinn like a tidal wave. Her whole life has been a lie.

On impulse, Quinn gives up her job, home, and boyfriend. She heads up the coast to the small hometown of Wildstone, California, which is just a few hours north, but feels worlds apart from Los Angeles. Though she doesn't quite fit in right away, she can't help but be drawn to the town’s simple pleasures…and the handsome, dark-haired stranger who offers friendship with no questions asked.

As Quinn settles into Wildstone, she discovers there's another surprise in store for her. The inheritance isn't a house or money, but rather something earthshattering, something that will make her question everything she thought she knew about herself, about her family. Now with a world of possibilities opening up to Quinn, she must decide if this new life is the one she was always meant to haveβ€”and the one that could finally give her the fulfillment she's searched so long for.

Cocktails and Books received this book for free from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.

In this new series by Jill Shalvis we’re introduced to Wildstone, Ca. Β A small coastal town that has seen better times but who’s residents are nosey, comical and willing to help a lost soul discover who she is and where she belongs.

Quinn’s life is flipped upside down when she’s sought out by a Harry Potter looking lawyer and told that she had an inheritance from a woman she barely knows, discovering not only that she’s adopted but also has a teenage sister. Β Desperate to understand, she travels to Wildstone where she finds herself surrounded by the quirky townspeople and one very hot resident at the local B & B.

Quinn was lovable. Β Almost from the moment we meet her on the page, I liked her. Β I loved her quirks, her sarcasm and quick remarks, along with her ability to like those that should be unlikable. Β Despite not knowing what she wanted to do after discovering her adoption and a sister, she managed to put Tilly first (even if she didn’t want to). Β She was determined to do what she needed to for Tilly and do it herself to prove to both of them they could do this. Β It was hard not to love her, even when she tried to keep herself closed off from being hurt.

The romance between Quinn and Mick was fun. Β They laughed, they supported each other, and grew to rely on one another. Β But what I missed in this romance was the sexiness that I’ve grown to love in a Jill Shalvis book. Β These two were playful with each other, but we never really saw that side of them in the bedroom, which I missed.

As with any book by this author, the secondary characters sometimes steal the show. Β Lena is a character that I hope gets her own book soon. Β She came off so unlikeable at first, but I found myself liking her the more we saw her (just like Quinn). Β I’m hoping she and Boomer someway, somehow find a HEAΒ soon.

LOST AND FOUND SISTERS is a perfect beach read. Β You’ll laugh, you’ll smile and it will tug on those heartstrings, all the while wishing Wildstone was close to real.

β€œYou’re up, honey,” Carolyn said and gestured to the front counter.
Trev, the carefully tousled barista, was an L.A. beach bum and aspiring actor forced to work to support his surfing habit. His hands worked at the speed of light while the rest of him seemed chilled and relaxed. β€œHey, darlin’, how’s life today?”
β€œGood,” Quinn said. She didn’t want to brag, but she’d totally gotten out of bed today with only two hits of the snooze button. β€œHow did your audition go?”
β€œGot the part.” Trev beamed. β€œYou’re looking at the best fake Thai delivery guy who ever lived. It means my luck as changed, so say you’ll finally go out with me.”
Quinn smiledβ€”see, she totally did smile!β€”and shook her head. β€œI’m notβ€”β€œ
Trev piped in along with her, in perfect sync, β€œβ€”dating right now,” and then shook his head.
β€œWell, I’m not,” she said.
β€œIt’s not right, a hot chick like you. You’re way too young to be in a rut. You know that, right?”
β€œI’m not in a rut.” She was just…not feeling life right now, that’s all. β€œAnd hey, I didn’t tell you my order yet,” she said when she realized he was already working on her coffee.
β€œHas it changed?” he asked. β€œEver?”
No, but now she wanted to order something crazy just to throw him off, except she wanted her usual, dammit.
Okay, so maybe she was in a rut. But routine made life simpler and after the complications she’d been through, simple was the key to getting out of bed and putting one foot in front of the other every day.
That and the badly needed caffeine, of course.
β€œYou should go out with him,” Carolyn whispered behind her. She smiled kindly when Quinn craned her neck and looked at her. β€œYou only live once, right?”
β€œNot true,” Quinn said. β€œYou lie every day. You only die once.”
Carolyn’s smile slowly faded in understanding. β€œThen make it count, honey. Go hog wild.”
Hog wild, huh? Quinn turned back to Trev.
β€œI’m all for the hog wild,” he said hopefully.
Quinn went for it. β€œAn extra shot and whip.”
Trev blinked and then sighed. β€œYeah, we really need to work on your idea of hog wild.”
