I love a good Hollywood romance. I’ll admit, the allure of an everyday girl attracting the attention of one of Hollywood’s leading men is a book I will always pick up. But this one took it in a slightly different direction and had me intrigued.

Lana had issues with privacy and enjoyed the protection she had from living in the small Maine town she grew up in. She left all her dreams and aspirations behind and swore off relationships when someone she trusted broke her trust in the worst way. Enter neighbor Matt Easton.

Matt is hiding in Lana’s hometown hoping to avoid the paparazzi while he films a movie nearby. He likes that anonymity he has and the fact that his neighbor has no clue who he is. So much so he’s willing to break his own rules and those of his publicist and manager to enjoy a little bit of “normal” with Lana.

I liked the two of them together, but Lana’s privacy issues often had me wondering how she thought things with Matt were going to work out. It was like she was in her own little bubble assuming they would always be able to keep a secret. I would have thought given everything that she went through she would have asked more questions. “What if?” would have been running through my mind constantly, especially after visiting Matt in LA. But it was like she couldn’t imagine she or their relationship was of any importance. She didn’t even pay attention to the fake girlfriend conversations until it was almost too late. It was the blinded ness that almost cost her everything.

Steamy, funny with the right mix of angst. Hollywood Scandal gives readers a little bit of everything, making it a perfect afternoon read.

“You have a boyfriend?”

She took another sip of wine and set it back on the table before she replied. “You’ve half asked that before.”

I chuckled. True. Not that I was going to act differently if she told me—either way I needed to keep my distance. I just wanted to meet the man who had managed to land this woman. “And I’m still coming up empty.” I glanced at the rise and fall of her creamy breasts, only barely covered by her camisole, and swallowed. Hard. I really should leave.

“See that?” she asked, pointing up over the ocean. “Lightning. And again.”

“Wow, that nearly cut the sky in half.”
