This rocker romance left me frustrated with the heroine, Gwen. Mainly because she let Garrett off the hook way too easily after all she’d been through.

Gwen meets Garrett at a party. Gwen thought they had a connection and spent an amazing night with Garrett. But Garrett thought she was like any other one night stand and sent his assistant to get rid of her the next months. Unfortunately for Gwen, she couldn’t walk away from that night and forget what happened. Fast forward four years and we find Gwen living in a less than desirable apartment, working as a manager at a local coffee shop trying to carve a decent life out for herself and her daughter when Garrett tries to insert himself back into her life.

This couple frustrated me. Gwen was a doormat to Garrett. He treated her like crap and let his assistant and manager deal with her more than maybe taking a bit more interest in their shared connection. Then he was all hurt when he realized the truth. Why should he be hurt? He treated her horribly, why would she ever think to lean on him? And then there was Gwen. I applauded her early on for standing her ground with him. But then when she decided to “forgive” him and try building a relationship she held the past against him. To me, if you’re going to sleep with him and tell him you’ll try then you don’t throw everything he’d done to you into his face.

In the end this couple figured out what they needed to do to get their HEA, but I wished I could have believed that after everything Gwen was truly past it.
