Veronica Miller is a plumber on a missionβbuy out her dad and the family business is finally hers. One big, handsome problem stands in her way. And it's not a clogged toilet.
Jack Reid is the boy she crushed on in high school. Ten years ago, he broke her heart and skipped town. But now he's back, and he's definitely no longer a boy. He's all manβand he'd really like for Veronica to check out his pipe.
Forced to being roommates, Jack and Veronica have to work through a decade of baggage, disappointment, wanting and unrequited lust.
Even though Veronica's heart hasn't yet forgiven Jack, they'll need more than a pillow berm down the middle of the bed to keep them apart.
In Montana Ice, the second book in the Small Town Romance series, it might be below zero, but Jack and Veronica heat things up.
Cocktails and Books received this book for free from L. Woods PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.
This was a cute read with multiple humorous episodes, but it was a story that I wish had gone a little deeper.
Veronica is an identical twin and almost from the time we meet her, something odd happens, things that are funny when you look back on them. One example is how she reconnects with her high school crush, Jack.
The cast of characters in Montana Ice is fun and entertaining, but everything just skims the surface. Reunited love, sisterly betrayal, a stalker, legal trouble, and a sex shop all blend together to make an interesting tale. The main thing I struggled with is that a lot of time was spent on small things, like the clothing of secondary characters, being described in great detail while key emotional moments received two sentences. If this had happened once, I could have over looked it, but it happened several times.
I debated how to rate this book, and the humor and shear absurdity of some of the situations is what kept this at an average read for me. Ms. Vale is a new author to me and while I found Montana Ice entertaining, Iβm not sure I want to find out what happens next.
