I realized when I reached the end of Block Shot, that I have read every book Ms Ryan has written. In all of that, I think Ms Ryan is one of the most consistent authors I’ve read. I don’t mean consistent in that each book is the same, but consistent in that each book contains a rare excellence in her writing and each book captures a challenging idea and uses her characters to explore that.
Banner and Jared are another part of that journey. Both are incredibly strong characters that aren’t perfect, but the imperfections make them more real.
Banner is the type of female lead that I would want to hold up to my daughter as an example of a strong, take charge woman. I found myself rooting for Jared to get what he wanted – he was a male lead that I like because of his imperfections.
Themes of self-acceptance, loyalty, fate, and love in all its forms filled the book.
As with all Ms Ryan’s books, there are epic moments and quotes that make the emotions scream off the page.
This an interconnected stand-alone and can easily be read on its own but is a stronger read if Long Shot has been read first. This series is one I highly recommend.
