She took a dare and fell in love. Truth would have been the smarter choice.

After years of living under her fatherโ€™s thumb, Emmeline is ready to break free. Sheโ€™s abandoned her life as a New York socialite to follow her dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small, wholesome town. Seeing the man that nearly broke her was absolutely not what she had hoped to find in Prescott, Montana.

Nick hasnโ€™t seen his Emmy in nine years, but that doesnโ€™t mean heโ€™s forgotten a thing about the woman he loves. After just one blissful night as man and wife, he gave her up, sacrificing his own happiness to keep her safeโ€”far away from him. But the moment she walks back into his lonely life is the moment he decides never to let her go again. He wonโ€™t waste his second chance. All he has to do is win back Emmelineโ€™s heart, keep her safe from the shadows in his past and prove to her that taking a wager on him is a sure bet.

I love everything Devney Perry writes and she has become one of my favorite authors. ย THE CLOVER CHAPEL is an emotional story with characters that pulled on my heartstrings. It has all the elements I love in a good story; engaging characters, a passionate story filled with suspense and a feisty female and an alpha male. I also love the small town setting filled with entertaining characters.

Emmaline and Nick first meet in Las Vegas and they impulsively decide to get married after having a few too many drinks. When Nick leaves the following morning, without telling Emmaline, he breaks her heart. They meet again nine years later, ย when Emmaline moves and starts a new job as a teacher in the same town as Nick.

Nick has never forgotten Emmaline and he knows he made a mistake when he left her nine years ago. He will not let this second opportunity slip by and he does everything in his power to convince Emmaline they should be together. I love how Nick never gives up on Emmaline. ย He is patient with Emmaline and willing to do whatever it takes to convince her she can trust him again.

Even though Emmaline comes from a wealthy family, she is down to earth and wants to live a simple life free of people who are fake. I found it easy to like Emmaline and sympathize with her. Nick broke her heart and she is afraid to let down her guard and trust him again. I loved this heartwarming story.
