In My Besties Ex, the duo behind Piper Rayne take a secondary character, Blanca, from one series and introduces us to a whole new group.
I had mixed feelings going into this one and left the book feeling the same way, but for slightly different reasons. I liked Blanca, Ethan, and most of the secondary cast, but found myself a bit conflicted with pieces of the story line.
My biggest conflict had to do with Blanca and the “bestie.” The amount of control she gave this childhood friend seemed out of character for the Blanca that continued to pop up in the White Collar Brothers books. It seemed almost as if Blanca became a passenger in her own life/crossroads experience.
Even with the pieces that seemed out of character for Blanca (for me anyway) this was a fun and entertaining read. My Bestie’s Ex is also a great introduction to a new series and the author duo did an excellent job of balancing the world building needed with telling us Ethan and Blanca’s story. I am very curious to see what comes next for the Rooftop Crew.
He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.
