It’s not very often that I start a review with a disclaimer, but I am for this book. If you have NOT read at least one of the previous Bennet Brothers books (preferably both) then stop, put this book down and go back to read the series in order – you will enjoy this book that much more if you do.
Now, about Mum’s the Word. This is Marcus’s story. He’s the stoic, save the day brother from the first two books and here we get to see the somewhat softer, definitely more passionate side to him. He is paired with Maise and you’ll just have to read the book to see why these two shouldn’t be together. These were two characters that I really liked. I enjoyed the fact that to get to know one another they had to take a few chances and set aside preconceived notions. We saw glimpses into two very different family environments and saw the impact that negative emotions can have on people. Add in a dynamic secondary cast and you have a winner of story.
When you look at the subtitle for this book “A forbidden Romance,” I bet a lot of people will dismiss it as a fluffy read. They couldn’t be more wrong. Yes, the plot of the book centers on the romantic relationship of two people, but there is more here too. There are complicated family dynamics, revenge, learning to make yourself a priority, learning that sometimes you have the key to your own freedom, and learning that love isn’t just one thing. Mum’s the Word is a great example of enjoying the spark, but taking the lesson to heart as well. After reading about the first 3 Bennett siblings, I am definitely curious about the twin and seeing what life has in store for them.

Falling in love with a Bennet is not an option.
My mother has summoned me home to take my place at Bower Bouquets, and as the heiress, Iβm expected to do as Iβm told. Iβm expected to sit by her side as she does her best to decimate the Bennet family and their flower shop, Longbourne. Iβm expected to play by her rules, or sheβll ruin me too.
But the day I crash into Marcus Bennet changes everything. And the kiss seals the deal. If my mother finds out, Iβll lose everythingβmy family, my life, my security. Worse, sheβll make sure the Bennets pay for my mistakes.
Falling in love with a Bennet is not an option.
But I might not have a choice.
Need to catch up on the series? The first two standalone books in the Bennet Brothers series are both LIVE and available from your favorite online book retailer!
Everyone hates parts of their job.
Maybe itβs the paperwork. Maybe itβs the day-to-day grind. Maybe itβs that client who never knows what they want, or the guy who always cooks fish in the microwave.
But not me. I love every corner of the Longbourne Flower Shop, every flower, every petal, every stem. I love the greenhouse, and I love Mrs. Bennet, my boss. I love creating, and I love being a florist. I donβt hate anything at all.
Except for Luke Bennet.
The Bennet brothers have come home to help their mom save the flower shop, and Luke is at the helm. His smile tells a tale of lust, loose and easy. He moves with the grace of a predator, feral and wild. A thing unbridled, without rules or constraint. When he comes home to save Longbourne, I almost canβt be mad at him. Almost.
He doesnβt remember that night Iβll never forget. That kiss, touched with whiskey and fire. It branded me like a red-hot iron. But it meant nothing to him.
Everyone hates part of their job, and I hate Luke Bennet.
Because if I donβt, Iβll fall in love with him.

They say thereβs no such thing as perfect.
But Iβve built my life to perfectionβthe perfect boyfriend, the perfect apartment, the perfect career planning celebrity weddings. My jobβmy only jobβis to make sure every event is absolutely and completely perfect.
Whatβs not perfect? Kash Bennet.
And I wish I didnβt find that so appealing.
I could have told you every perfectly imperfect thing about the gardener at Longbourne. Like his hair, lush and black and far too long. Or his nose, the flat bridge of a Greek god, bent a little like itβs been broken. Or his size. Beastly. Roped and corded with muscles, gleaming with sweat and peppered with dirt. Thereβs no escaping him, not if Iβm going to use his familyβs flower shop for my events.
But nothing is what it seems. And in the span of a heartbeat, my perfect life is turned inside out. They say the best way to get over somebody is to get under somebody new. When Kash offers his services to the cause, it sounds like the perfect plan.
Whatβs not part of the plan? Falling in love with the gardener.
But they were rightβthereβs no such thing as perfect.
And Iβm the fool who finds out the hard way.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.
