In Southern Chance Ms Madison takes on a brand new adventure! This is the first book in a series and we get to meet a whole new cast of characters as we follow Jacob and Kallie and their fight for a second chance.
I liked both characters from the get go. I admired Kallieβs strength of character and the fact that she valued herself enough to stand up for herself. Jacobβs sense of friendship and loyalty speaks volumes about who he is as a person. I found myself rooting for them from the time they came first crossed paths after 8 years apart.
The story behind Southern Chance is interesting. There is some mild intrigue, a lot of small town gossip, and old wounds that need to heal. This is a well written and entertaining book that I really didnβt want to put down.
I did struggle in a couple of places. I wish there had been a little more time in between Jacob and Kallie clearing the air and their full on romantic relationship. It seemed like a switch flipped and all was okay- which after 8 years seemed very fast. There is also a bit of a mini cliffhanger that should be resolved in the next book. There is an epilogue that tells us how the main characters here make out, but the ending of the main story was very abrupt.
Overall, this is definitely a book worth reading and I am excited to see what happens in The next book.
