In this 3rd installment Southern series, we learn more about Savannah and Beau – characters that have played key secondary roles in the first two books.
Savannah was cast as the villain in Southern Chance, but there was a lot we didnβt know about what happened to her. In Southern Storm we see the back story about how she arrived where she is and how that continues to influence her daily life. It gave me a new appreciation for a character that I wasn’t sure I could root for 100%. Beau has been the steadfast friend, but here we learn just how deep his devotion to Savannah runs.
I enjoyed getting to see these two finally deal with the feelings that have been simmering under the surface for years. It was also sweet to see the efforts Beau went through to make sure Savannah understood her value to the community.
My one “complaint” was that I really wanted to see more regarding the resolution of the conflict. We see pieces of the puzzle and the intrigue level is awesome, but I would have loved a little more of the hows and whys behind some of what happened. I was happy with the outcome of the story, but left with a lot of questions.
The Southern series has been entertaining and I am very curious to see how things play out in the upcoming final installment.
Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.
When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals.Β
It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
